I'd like to give chloe some variety.  RIght now she's on the blue buffalo chicken & turkey grain free dog food.  I was thinking of switching it up and giving her some of the salmon recipe of the same brand.  Would there be any issues doing this or is this something I would have to introduce her to gradually.  I thought I could just switch it up every other day or something.

If she hasn't had any digestive problems, poop is regular and normal, and she doesn't have a sensitive tummy, you should be fine with switching cold turkey. She may have some loose stools for a day or so, but probably not. All you're changing is the protein source, and she's probably had some salmon meal in the chicken formula anyway.

I switch the flavor after I'm done with the bag.  It is the same brand as you give Chloe.  Pebbles never has a problem.

She hasn't had any poop issues since february.  If you recall I mentioned she had recurring diarrhea over the course of a year with no apparant cause or solution.

You had suggested probiotics.  I started using Animal Essentials probiotics daily and ever since then her poop has been solid as a rock.  No more diarrhea or even loose stools!  I'd like to give it another month before claiming total victory but so far this has been her longest stretch without an issue so thank you very much karen!!!  That was driving me insane for a year.  With that in mind perhaps I should wait that extra month before trying a switch.

I think in Chloe's case, I'd go slowly with any food changes at this point. How long since you stopped the metronidazole?

Forgive me for not remembering that last discussion. I'm getting old, and there are so many doodles with digestive issues. I'm really glad the probiotics helped!

She's been off the metronidazole for almost 2 months as well.  She was on it briefly since every previous bout of diarrhea was solved with a small treatment of that.

Yes, metronidazole does that. But if she's been off it for two months and the poop is still solid and well-formed, you should be okay with trying another formula.
