Recently, crowns began appearing on profile pictures which sent all of DK a twitter and by all, I mean those people so addicted to DoodleKisses that they were monitoring profile pictures instead of out on a Friday night. Sadly, I am one of those people. It started with Sherri first. What could it mean?  Remember that old show Queen for the Day?

On that show, women were interviewed and asked what they needed most in their life, and then the audience would respond with applause, someone would get picked, and of course, be awarded the thing they needed most in their life, everyone would cry and leave happy.  Was Sherri going to be queen for the day on DK and what would be her wish?

All of a sudden, I saw I had a crown, too.  Sue noticed she had a crown and posted a discussion.  We all started speculating about what the crown could mean and Joanne tried to get us in trouble with the Food Group by implying that we all fed our dogs at Burger King. My husband once had a pair of underwear that said "Home of the Whopper," but other than that, I knew my dogs had never seen a Whopper served from Burger King, but I can't speak for them as to what they have seen when my husband jumps out of the shower.

I didn't think it had anything to do with Whoppers, however, because there would be no reason for my crown to have anything to do with something that big.

Besides, how would Adina know what goes on in our lives, because only a fool would blog about family members on a public site.

Members were this close to rioting when they saw that only three of us had been crowned and I felt badly for all of those people, but as long as I was picked and wasn't a loser but I knew there had to be a perfectly rational explanation that Sherri, Sue, and I were winners chosen.

Sue suggested we find things we had in common, so I racked my brain last night trying to think of something.  Did we all win a beauty pageant once in our lives?  I know I was in the running for the title of Miss. Melons USA once on  Spring Break, but dropped out after I asked one of the judges where the display table was for my prized cantaloupes and he said, "honey, the only prize those melons are gonna get is the booby prize."

How was I supposed to know if Sue and Sherri had anything similar happen to them?

No, it had to be something else, but what?  Finally, it dawned on me.  We all had one male and one female Doodle and we are all runners.  I know what you are all thinking, RUNNERS?? Laurie??  All I will say to you naysayers is that once, it was pouring outside and my daughter and I were trying to get into the mall and I took off like a bat out of hell and ran into that mall so quickly, that even one of the employees in the store was shocked, and said when she thought of me, she always thought Laurie, the Gazelle. Case closed....mystery over......two Doodles and in superior shape!!!

Okay, I'm going to share with you all something and I do not want it repeated.

I'm from an old ethnic family.  You know, they honor the first born boy.  Well for 29 years, no boys were born.  I was a mistake on my parents part. How sad. But suddenly, there was that last chance to have a boy born to carry on the name.  YIPPIE. Of course, I would be a boy. The fights began.  Nick, Pete, John, Frank--what male in the family was I going to be named after.

And then along came, a big fat baby girl with no name.

My sister, home watching Queen for the Day, named me after the woman who won that day.

My parents will tell you this absolutely is not true.  My sister, who was 10 at the time--well I trust her more.

You mentioned Queen for the Day.  Just had to share.  How honorable is that for a name!

here on DK we get to keep the crown forever.   I am going to donate mine. I can't take another

Adina said these might be temporary.

I will tell no one :) What a great tale of how you got your name!

My parents never admitted to why they named my sister Joann. We thought it was a mixing of their names, a no no for us. I traditionally was named after dead relatives : )

OMD, Joanne! I am so glad it wasn't some goofy name!

I'm changing my profile picture.  Spud will now be stepping on the crown.  This is not meant to be offensive.  He likes to step on things that squeak.

And this crown has made us all  squeak.

LOL

I don't think that I can wear a crown, after all I'm a Republican not a Royalist!  I can wear a shamrock or a star of David but that's my lot.  I also think those crowns can be very heavy on the head and I think sleeping in one would prove a little difficult, not a good look with my hill walking gear and boots either.

Scot, LOL....I could probably be bought, too :)

Nicky, Could Riley wear a crown or at least, stand on it like Spud is doing? LOL

He might wear it for a minute but I think then he'd give it a good chewing! ; ))
