We have just returned from a holiday by the coast.  On the final evening Toffee rolled around on a dead fish - twice (my DH didn't notice the first time as she was off her leash !!).  We have washed her with various shampoos but the odour is still lingering and is disgusting !!

Anyone have any tips ?  PLEASE !!

I wonder if Nature's Miracle Skunk Odor Remover would work on fish? It is natural and has enzymes. I have used it for removing skunk odor and it worked well. Both skunk and fish are oily so it just might work to break that oil bond.

Also if Toffee (love his name by the way!)  doesn't have sensitive skin you might try a dish detergent like Dawn. Detergent is also better at cutting oils than a regular shampoo.

It sounds like Toffee had a great time on holiday!! Good luck!

Sounds like good advice. I bet Toffee thinks she smells wonderful.

After trying Dawn to remove the oil, try using some plain white vinegar on his fur..It takes out alot of other smells and it won't hurt his skin at all..

Good luck!

Bummer! Maybe call a pet store or vet for some ideas?? Good luck! Love the picture!

I don't know what shampoo you have used but Wahl's Dirty Beasty on some very smelly dogs that I have had

to bathe and it works beautifully.

We have had the best luck with skunk and dead animal smells by using bronners peppermint. Works like a charm every time and it's natural and safe. We can buy it at the grocery store or natural food stores. Buy the bronners brand though, the other Castille soaps don't seem to work as well.

Use Feminine Hygiene wash. It works fabulously on skunk odor so I'll bet it will work on fish odor.
