Groomer Recommendations

Hi everyone :)

 

This is my first post on DK! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good groomer in Richmond, preferably the West End area. Our Luna is 6 months old, and in need of some grooming! We like her hair longer, and do not want her shaved. I've heard so many horror stories about groomers that don't know what to do with doodles, so I wanted to check here for advice! She does not have any knots - she's just getting really shaggy and can barely see :) A trim would be perfect, but I wasn't sure if any groomers did that. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Hi Laura,

 

We use 2 groomers, depending on their wait time:  Canine to Five (Pouncy Tract Rd) and Dogma (Carytown).  But we're just the opposite and we like Kaiya groomed pretty short in a non-poodle cut.  She has tight curls, and it's tough to keep her long.  The longest we'll go is about 3 months, and that's in the winter.  Otherwise, she matts up on us.  

 

Both know how we like her groomed, and do a great job for us.

 

Canine to Five lets the dogs play in the yard in the morning.  Dogma keeps them crated all day long.

we love Paws and Claws on Ridgefield Pkwy.  Hokie gets shaved down, just because he gets so hot, but they are really good about listening to what you want.  And, then again, if the cut is not what you want, take a picture and explain what you don't like.  The hair grows back...  quickly....

Laura,

Petco and Petsmart in Short Pump always talk me into having my doodles shaved down. I don't recommend either.Try Aussie Pet Mobile it's a bit more expensive but well worth it. It's so frustrating paying almost a 100.00 at Petco or Petsmart and being disappointed when I pick them up. Give Aussie a try!!

I like Barking Lot, in the Museum District of town. they cut lots of labra and goldendoodles.

Hi there.  I am in the same spot...  My goldendoodle is 6 mos now and is in need of a great summer cut.  I have an appointment with Sloppy Kisses off of Hull Street next week.  After visiting her shop I felt comfortable making the appt.  Anyone use Sloppy Kisses?  From all the research I've done, she (Robyn) seems experienced and kind.
