Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We have been trying out lots of trails in this area to see what could work for us. We have come up with a great trail that seems to be perfect (when the cows are not on the hillside). First I drop Charlie off with his mountain bike at a little country school. Then I drive 3 & 1/2 miles until the dirt road ends. The dogs and I take off walking with them on leash until I can see if there are any cows in the area. Charlie catches up with us about 20 minutes later and the dogs run with him to the top of the hill. At the top of the hill, he turns around and comes back down.
I get a 2 - 3 mile walk, the dogs get a 10-mile walk/run and Charlie gets a 17-mile mountain bike ride with a good climb to the top of the hill. It is a pretty closed off area between Monterey and San Benito counties and used to be an old stage coach route. It seems to be working for us and we have done it several times now.

Wow you guys go all out! I'm impressed!
Wow...that sounds wonderful! My husband would love the bike ride part :)
My husband not only loves it, it is necessary for him. He is always in training for some type of competition or another. Right now, he is part of a 5-man team for a 24-hr. mountain bike competition.
Wow that sounds perfect!
That sounds amazing! Post a few pictures!
That sounds perfect. The dogs must think they died and went to doggie heaven. I would love a situation like that. What happens when the cows are on the hillside?
When the cows are on the hillside, I need to keep the dogs on leash. The pastures are fenced, but Groucho crawls right under the barbed wire fence and chases the cows. Harpo is a little more leary of the barbed wire fence since he had a bad experience with getting caught in the barbed wire once. He tried to bite his way out and pierced his tongue in a couple of places. Not a great experience for him.
Sounds like a perfect plan.
I am so glad this works for you all.
I commend you fro your fitness regimen.
