Our Friday morning walk got quite interesting when we encountered a coyote on the trail. Usually, they stay away, but this one was very persistent and barked back at Monty. The video is of poor quality, I only had my cell phone with me.

Wow, walking doodles has become like an episode from The Crocodile Hunter.
I was thinking the same thing! Well, I think my exact thoughts were more along the lines of "Wild Kingdom" (I'm dating myself...) but same idea! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled when Rooney and I head out into our urban neighborhood. You never know...
Spud just got out of bed. That is scary. I thought a walk and running into the attacking Pit the next block over was bad but geesh.
I know, I have stopped walking at night because of ............ THINGS that go bark in the night.
Scary, just scary
Sorry to wake Spud. I think the attacking Pit is worse. In my head, I feel like a coyote scares easier than a mad Pit. I would not want to experience that. This guy was smaller than Monty so I did not worry too much.
Whoa tooo scary!
Wow, you have very timid coyotes, Jarka! The coyotes around here are much more aggressive, they have attacked large dogs and killed small ones, right in people's yards. Jack and I encountered a coyote on our evening walk a few years back, and it was pretty tense. You can't turn your back on them.
Maybe it's because ours are living in urban areas and are not afraid of people, dogs, or much else.
He seemed like he was standing his ground pretty good to me with a big ol doodle barking at him like that. We have lots of coyotes here also, they are aggressive but cowardly too. I have heard of them picking off a small dog right off their leash.
That's the problem: once they get used to people walking by, they are not scared anymore. I see that coming in our area.
Boy can he fight (or at least bark). He would have never been approved for a therapy dog if anyone would have heard him barking like this. :-)
