Few people are aware of this, but there is a facility next to Santa's workshop, a sort of building annex, dedicated to receiving and fulfilling the wishes of pets. Surprised? You may be startled to know that Santa has been delivering goodies to pets long before the advent of doggie daycares, spas and the plethora of toys that line pet store shelves. The annex is quite large to accommodate the millions of wish lists sent to the North Pole each year by pets.
Dogs and cats may not be able to manipulate a pen, but they know how to get their wishes across – as any pet owner can appreciate! Of course, the foremost wish of dogs and cats is the gift of a good home and a loving family.

I thought it might be fun to read some letters from our Doodle Kisses Doodles. If your furbaby could write, what do you think he/she would ask from SantaPaws? Here’s some nice one’s to get your creative juices flowing. Happy Holidays to one and all.

I've Been a Good Girl...Mostly

Dear Santa:

I've been a very good girl this year... well mostly a good girl. I would like a new bed for Christmas. (I really didn't mean to tear up the last one... I just wanted to see what was inside). And I would like a new squeeky toy, and a new tug-o-war rope. I think Pup buried the one you brought last year. Oh, and some of my favorite dog biscuits! Mom only lets me have those tiny ones, but I want the BIG ones!

And Santa, I have just one more request... as you're flying thru the heavens, would you keep an eye out for my little sister, Twirler? Mom says she went to heaven a couple of months ago. I keep looking for her, and calling her, but she never answers, and I miss her terribly. Please tell her I love her, and I'm keeping her favorite squeeky Snowman for her. Maybe you could give her another Snowman to play with until I can take this one to her??

Thank you Santa!

OXOXOXOXOX

I am very lucky.

So, Santa my wish is that every dog that finds a new home at Christmas is treated just as special as I am. They should be loved and cared for just like one of the family. I know it is a big responsibility to take care of us, and we are really thankful for everything. Santa, I wish people really take the time and realize it is a big decision when they bring a pet into their home. It is very sad when spring comes around and we are not the little rolly polly balls of fur anymore and sometimes children and adults start to loose interest and patience and some of us end up at a shelter, missing our new family and the fun we had. So, Santa you don't have to stop at my house this year, I have everything I need. Use that time to place one of us that is not as fortunate with a family just like mine.

Thanks again Santa,

Hugs & Licks

What I Want for Christmas!

Dear Santa,

Well, first get rid of the Kitties! Take them away in your sleighs! I want a new bone, and could use a new ball, because the old one has holes in it, and that's not any fun! I want some stuff toys that look like cats, so I can rip them apart! Don't listen to that cat, Santa He is mean! He scratches me all the time!

Zoe's Christmas List

Dear Santa,

I am a four year old Cocker Spaniel-poodle mix and I have been a good girl this year. Well.......except for a little bit of Cocker Spaniel attitude here and there.

There is not much I want this year. Who needs more then a family that loves me and my Rubber Chicken. Don't even try to get me a new one because it just won't be the same. He may be slimy and kind of green but he is mine.

I've heard some kids say they want their two front teeth or a bike to ride on but more then anything Santa I want to be able to jump and play again. You see I was running last Wednesday when a sudden pain stopped me in my tracks. I lost the use of my back legs and my owners are not sure if they can afford the surgery to make me better.

I heard about your miracle on 34th street but can you please bring one my way?

Alfonzo's Christmas story

Dear Santa,

Hello my name is Alfonzo, I'm a 8 month old Bichon-poodle. My humans saved me from a bad breeding mill and lucky for me they did, I was very sick. It has taken over 5 months and a lot of vet visits to get me healthy but I'm on the road to recovery.

My Christmas wish list for this year is to be healthy so I can have fun and play with my humans. I have to say though that I've over heard them talking about buying me lots of gifts and a big stocking to put out for Santa to fill. So far I think I'm getting a toy box, toys and some clothes, but don't tell them I know what I'm getting they think it's a surprise.
Thanks and Have a Merry Christmas

From: Alfonzo Bye

P.S I think I would also like some more long underwear PJ's, they are cozy and warm. I wear a size medium.

All I want for Christmas

Dear Santa,

I want to be healthy, lately I've been not doing so well. And I want my Mom to find happiness in the coming year, maybe a new Dad for me! FURY

What Sissy Girl, would love for Christmas

Dear Santa,

I would like for all my fellow puppys who are in the awful puppymills, being used as breeders, over and over to be rescued. I would also like for all the other dogs to be rescued. That is my Christmas wish. I was one of the lucky ones. I was rescued at 1 month old and adopted at 3 months old. I am now 3 years old and living in the lap of luxury. My wish is that you would look help these poor fur babies and keep them safe and warm and help them find a better life. I have everything I could possibly want or need and I only pray that the others find that. That is my Christmas wish.

Merry Christmas to all,

Ann - Hildebran, NC

All I want for Christmas is you and a tennis ball

Dear Santa (my owner),

You found me, in a shelter. I looked sad and dirty. You took me home, loved me, cleaned me up and fed me. I felt like the luckiest dog in the world. Then each day you left me alone. I was so bored. I found some things to play with. You got mad at me when I played with your shoes, underwear and even your toothbrush.

You bought me some terrific toys and played with me. I was so happy. Then you left again each day and when you got home you were too tired to play with me. You would let me out in the yard. I got bored so I dug holes and tasted the plants out in the yard. I got sick. You took me to the vet, and I got better. But the toys just laid there. I tried to play with them but they didn't move. It wasn't fun without you.

Dear Santa (my owner) all I want for Christmas is my owner to play with me. Each day.

Love,

Shadow

You made me cry with that first one!

I know. That's what gave methe idea of this discussion. Thank You.
Bad Dogs Write Letters, too!
I cried too!

Letter from Cealeach:

Dear Santa,

I wish that my itching would stop, so I could not shed all my fur everywhere and make Mom have to sweep and vacuum 10 times a day.

I hope that Bella lives for 9 more years, because I love her and she has taught me so much about being a good member of this family.

Santa, I have a good home with people that love me, a big sister and all the food, treats and toys that a puppy could ask for, so could you give Sophie back her sight? It would be nice if she could get her surgery and find a nice home like the one I have. Maybe you could even make sure that she goes to a home where she can have a big sister like Bella.

Thank you Santa,
Cealeach
And Cealach, YOU have me crying with that one!
I hope Cealeach gets everything on her list. And Bella lives many, many more years.
Dear Santa Paws,
I have been a very good doodle this year. I know I have been driving Mommy crazy with my picky eating habits, but that is because she mostly feeds me food from a bag. So, Santa Paws, for my first wish, could you please send Cody, Jack, & Ginger's mommy to my house to teach my mom how to cook?
I don't mean to keep messing up the rug in Mom's bedroom with cat litter, but I can't help the way it falls off my beard. Could you please bring us some kind of cat litter that won't stick to doodles' faces?
I really wish you could make me stop itching so much, mostly because it makes Mom feel so sad, and also I don't like all those pills; so could you please make all the ragweed, pollen, and other yucky stuff go away?
And it would really be a good present if my tennis balls could learn how to throw themselves, so I wouldn't have to wait for somebody here to play with me.
Mostly, though, I have everything I need. So please bring all the dogs who don't have homes a family who will love them forever like mine does. And please give those people who run those "puppy mill" places new, improved hearts. And could YOU maybe contribute a little to Sophie's Fund, too?
I know I'm asking for a lot, Santa Paws, but like I said, I've been a very good doodle this year. Just ask my mom!
Thanks for listening,
Jackdoodle
Awe. Jackdoodle deserves everything on his list.
I am NOT a crier! But am all teared up now. What wonderful letters!
Dear Santa Paws:

Thank you for bringing my a brother and a sister. I was very sad when Magic died. I have also lost too many human parents in my life. My Poppy died and then my Mother. I lived for awhile with my Uncle but he didn't have much time for me and I was very sad, because I was all alone a lot.

When I came to live in my new home with my Aunt Lynne and her family, it was so nice to have my own family and another doggie to love me. I took me awhile to settle into their lives but I did and was so happy. But Magic got sick and then I was the only furbaby in the house. Evryone was sad, me too. Magic went to live over the Rainbow Bridge and I know I will play with her again someday.

My Aunt Mommy brought in a beautiful Doodle Girl two Christmas's ago and she is the love of my life. Ginger was very scared when she first got here. She didn't even know what grass was for. I had to teach her everything a proper dog should do. I heard Mommy say she came from a puppy mill in somewhere called Pennsylvania. She was the best Christmas present I ever got.

Then, last year Mommy brought my brother, Jack home. He was really sick at first. But he got better and now is my best friend. I love to play with him, even though he is much bigger then me. I showed him how to use the doggie door and where to put his business. He is so much fun and my family is so full. I am really happy, at last.

So, Santa Paws, the only thing I could really use for Christmas this year is maybe some tennis balls and marrow bones. They are my very favorites. And if you have time, maybe you could save all the puppies still in puppy mills and help them find forever homes. I know Sophie will get her surgery and find a happy home, so maybe you could help other doggies in shelters, too.

Thank You, Santa Paws for everything you did to save my life and I know you will help all the others too.

Love, Cody, big-little brother of Ginger and Jack. (They will write their own letters when Mommy has time)
Cody, you are the best honorary doodle in the whole wide world, and I hope Santa Paws will bring you everything you asked for.
Dear Santa Paws:

You might remember me from two years ago. My name is Ginger and I was born in a puppymill. My brothers and sisters, mother and father were all in cages in Pennsylvania and very sad. All I wanted for Christmas in 2006 was a human family of my own. You granted my wish that year, even giving me 2 human brothers and 1 doggie brother to play with.

Although it took me awhile to learn about the world of humans, I finally did. Like grass. I didn’t know what it was and I was scared at first. And strange people, especially men, were scary to me. My only experiences left me scared all the time. I wanted to tell you that I finally understand what love is. My human family hug, kiss and snuggle with me all the time. I have my own bed and bones and toys. I even have boots and a snow suit for when it snows. What a lucky doggie I am.

In 2007, Mommy brought home another doodle, like me. He was scared and skinny. He didn’t understand humans very well and me and my brother, Cody, had to teach him, everything. He didn’t have any doggie manners or know how to behave in the house. My wish last year was for Jack to learn how to be a good doggie and now he is a great big-little brother. He got even bigger then me. He is goofy and makes us all laugh all the time. So, thank you Santa for the last two years.

This year, I can’t think of a single thing I need for Christmas. My life is PERFECT. I have brothers and a family of my own. I have a big backyard to run and play in whenever I want. I chase squirrels and birds to my heart’s content. I have good “homecooked” food, bones, toys, clothes, treats, boots and beds. There are only a couple of things I want to ask for this year: for Sophie to get her surgery and find her forever home before Christmas; for every puppymill to be shut down and for this year I hope every doggie on the planet can get their forever home and be as happy as I am.

Love, Ginger
