I'm a blueberry junkie!! I eat them EVERY day!
I like blackberries too and in Oregon they are so abundant that they are often considered a pest, growing everywhere you don't want them to grow. From our friend Wiki:
Primary cultivation takes place in the state of Oregon located in the United States of America. Oregon is the leading blackberry producer in the world, producing 42.6 million pounds on 6,180 acres (25.0 km2), in 1995[6] and 56.1 million pounds on 7,000 acres (28 km2) in 2009.[7] While Oregon may lead the world in volume of fruit produced, Serbia has tremendous acreage.
You remind me I actually snuck a marion berry home in a suitcase. There may be a remnant somewhere in my jungle but I never got marion berries. Oh did I love the things made with them when I visited Oregon.
Marionberry pie is my absolute favorite!
We may be twins separated at birth and by some years : )
:)))
We lived in Oregon during grad school. When we moved into our home 1978 the first thing we planted was blackberries. They were amazing until about 5 years ago when the quality fell way off. We tore them out but miss them so much. Love blackberry cobbler!
Oregon does have great berries! Sounds like it's time for another trip up North!
Owen tried desperately to pull out every single raspberry cane last fall but we found he miss a few, and we will have a crop of maybe 12 berries. ;o) Our grandchildren ate the blueberries before they were ripe last weekend. So much for fruit at our house (but the little ones--puppy and kiddos--are too cute to be mad for long).
Those little rascals! But you're right it's hard to stay mad at them!
OMD, I like the flower and the bonus. What is the flower? And do not despair, I have an idea for a follow up.
