Hello!!! i am about to go out today and get my Chloe a new collar or harness. It is now kind of urgent as lastnight i took her to my sons soccer game and she was just so excited about all the kids that she pulled so hard her collar buckle came undone! didnt even know that was a possibility.
She is now 4 months old and weighs approx 23 pounds, and what i really need is something that i can have more of a handle on her when she is in this obnoxious state of mind (oh gosh i sound like Cesear).
She is generally a great walker and only ever pulls when there are people she "Needs" to see! at which i am trying to figure out the best solution to fix that little problem aswell:)
Leaving soon for the pet store so i hope i get some ideas in time!
Thanks everyone!~

We had problems like that with Mandy and Banjo. We took them to tranning and the trainer recommended that we use a 1/8 aveation type collar. When we got the collars on them in the first training session it seemed like we got 2 different dogs. we still use them and had great succes with them.
i tried googling the aveation collar and cant find anything about it anywhere. I will keep trying, thank you:)
Thanks, i have heard about these, i think i just didnt look twice because i think they seem so thin! hahaha but hey its not necessarily the size that matters :')
Same problem with my Bailey. I started a training course and it was required that we use a prong collar. I was not certain I wanted to use this type of collar but I gave in and got it for the class. Now we never leave home without it!!! It is amazing how well she responds with it and she doesn't mind it at all.
I forgot to mention that I use it only when we go out....never leave it on at home. She always has her regular collar on with her tags and I put the prong collar on when we go out for walks.....or when we "train". I tried the "easy walk harness" and she did somewhat better with it than a regular collar but I still could not control her when she got "wild".....the prong collar has worked magic with her.
how old was she when you started on the prong collar?
10 months......but if I had known how well it worked, I would have started much sooner.
I started Calla on a prong when she was maybe 5 months and Luca about 6 months. I have written about the easy release collars I had. I still use them all the time, not sure I need to but it makes for extra insurance.
Thanks to you, F Parker, I have the easy release prong collar. I switched from the chrome to the stainless and she no longer gets the discoloration on her fur. Thanks for your advice!
Great and thanks for letting me know : ) Maybe you should put a note in your original discussion so that when people see it they will know the solution.
I really think the collar should match the training method that you're planning to use with Chloe. Have you started any training yet? Many trainers have a specific preference on what type of collar they would like you to use.
