Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone.  I rescued Winston about a year ago, and we were told he was either a goldendoodle or a labradoodle.  Is it possible to tell what type of doodle he is by looking at his physical appearance?  What type of doodle do you think he is?  Is he even a doodle (some people think he is a wheaten terrier)?

Here's some information that may help:

1.  He is ultra cream with apricot parti spots.

2.  His fur is a mixture of straight, wavy, and curly.

3.  He sheds a little.

4.  He gets strong body odor within a week of being bathed.

5.  He is 40 pounds, full grown.

6.  He has a stocky, square appearance, with a flat and wide head.

7.  He has dark brown eyes (with crazy long apricot lashes) and a rose colored nose.

8.  He is a goof ball and loves to snuggle with cats.

After looking online at hundreds of pictures, I feel that he could either be an Australian Labradoodle or a English-type Goldendoodle, based on the stockiness of his body.

I've attached a few photos, which you can also find in my photo gallery in my profile.  Thank you!

thanks for your opinion! i sure hope he is a square labradoodle! didn't know the eyelash thing is a poodle thing!
He has a goldendoodle tail and seams to have their fur type. They can have 3 different types of fur or a mixture. My Zoey is apricot bit most goldens are white. Labradoodles usually have longer faces and corser hair

We have goldendoodles here in all colors, including black. Blacks and reds are very common in Goldendoodles, as are all shades of gold and apricot. I also don't think you can generalize about labradoodles coats being coarser than goldendoodles...it would depend on the generation. And the ALDs faces are not long at all.

Zoey is quite a cutey!

Does anyone know if labradoodles can have the mixed fur type that Winston has?

Zoey also has long apricot lashes. She is a f1b goldendoodle
He looks an awful lot like our English goldendoodle who will probably be 40-45 pounds when grown. Finn has cream and apricot colors and wicked long eye lashes and seems stockier. It is so hard to tell though in mixed breeds. Coats can vary so much but Finn has a pretty wavy thick soft fleece all over that might be curlier as he gets his adult coat. So far he hasnt shed a single hair. His mom was an English golden and dad a black and white parti poodle which is where I think the coat color pattern he has came from. He also has black and pink spotted paws and almost black skin under all that cream fur! Winston is a cutie for sure.
you're the first person to say that! :) i wondered if it was possible for winston to be an English goldendoodle because of his almost white cream coat and stockier body. are there other English doodle owners out there?

your boy is soooo cute. is he a medium size one?
Thanks, we think he is adorable too! He gets a lot of attention in public! Yes, he was almost 20 pounds at 4 months so I am guessing he will be 40-45 in the end. He isn't long legged so he should fall in the medium range. His mom was 50 pounds and dad was 15 pounds. Since he is an f1 it's hard to say but the breeder suspected he would be medium. I need more a more recent picture to show of him but he looks like Winston, only a bit longer, wavier hair. Same coloration though. The apricot colored ears and light cream color make me think you have a similar mix.

Well, he's a total cutie!  I am flattered that you think Winston and Finn look alike.  :)  Winston also gets a lot of attention in public!  Sometimes it overstimulates him.  Guess that's unavoidable for all doodle owners!

Here is a picture I just took, getting one with him standing is too hard!  Finn definitely needs another bang trim!

awwwww...tooo cute!  I love his wavy fur.  He's really a teddy bear.
