Hey everyone, i just cant seem to decide whether or not i should get my puppy trimed for the summer. She is 16 weeks and she had pretty thick hair. I do notice she pants a lot when its warm outside, i spritz her with water, im just wondering if anyone has thought on grooming a puppy for the summer and if it is a good idea what would i tell the groomer i want? scissor cut or clippers? :S

this picture was a couple weeks ago and her hair has gotten longer since then already. But that is the texture

how did the grooming go! pictures please:)

she is so cute btw and they do look similar!

So, Chloes appointment is tomorrow, and im sooooo nervous. I printed out the pictures of what i do want her to look and 1 picture of what i dont want.

I am just undecided on whether to ask her do 1 inch or half of an inch.

If feel like an inch is still quite a bit of hair, but want her to have enough that she wont get sunburned.

I do the 1/2 in because that is the size of blade that I have.  They don't  make a 1 inch blade and getting the comb attachment through his 4.5 in coat just wasn't happening.  Neither of my dogs have gotten sunburned at that length, but they are only outside for their walks and some backyard time and that is usually all in the evening once I get home from work so there really wouldn't be much danger of a sunburn at that time.  Their hair is thick enough that even at 1/2 inch you can't see their skin, but the next time I clip them, i'll probably use a longer comb attachment because I like the length they are at right now.

awww...he looks really good.  The groomer did a very nice job.  what length did you end up going with?

thanks!!!  she did the 1/2/inch on the body and scissored the legs. I'm not sure how she did the face, but it is pretty short by the eyes which i dont love but i'm okay with it because im guessing she did it for a reason? lol

She looks so skinny now too! ahaha

and i also noticed now that she has a darker strip of fur going down her back. Dont know what thats about!

She looks darling!! I can't decide if I am going to trim Rooney shorter for summer or not. This gives me a good idea of what he might look like though, and it's very cute!

Rooney has a darker stripe of fur down his back too. It's not super noticeable but I can tell. Maybe it's all part of the coat transitioning from the puppy coat to adult?

Maybe! how old is rooney? i think chloe is a little early for the coat change but you never know! i would like to get it over with and it would be great to come in whilst her hair is short for the summer so bring it on! hahah

If you cut him short he will look like he lost 20 pounds, but its very gracefull! her legs look so long now shes like a supermodel hahaha

Very cute!  Looks like a puppy cut to me.
