Jared, This all makes so much more sense to me. I named our chocolate girl, Fudge, and my sister almost had a heart attack every time I mentioned that name. She kept saying it sounded like a very bad word :) LOL Now, I see Karen says there should be a vowel on the end of the name and I think that explains why Fudge is such a stinker about coming when called. I should have listened....LOL!! Actually, I love my names for my dogs. Not everybody does. Vern is actually Vernors and we never EVER call him by his full name. I imagine you will have to shorten your names, too, because you will get tired of yelling saying them over and over. Good luck with whatever name you settle on :)
When someone has two dogs I think it is nice to have the names end with a different sound so they have a distinctly different sound when you call for the dogs. Like Dakota and Reily....or Dakota and Shadow....or Dakota and Diesel...or Dakota and Max..... or Dakota and Casey.... or Dakota and Baxter. But like everyone else is saying, it is your pup and you have to like the name. I am excited for you! Can't wait to see pictures.
Dakota and Winston.....sounds great! :)
I agree! I'm liking Dakota and Winston!!!
I have no trouble with two dogs ending in an a sound : ) The Monks of New Skete recommends vowel sound on the end of names but go know.
That's where I learned it, and have since found that the majority of police K9s are named that way.
I laugh when I think how my dogs were going to be trained like New Skete puppies. I couldn't even begin to follow their schedule and the rest never was even attempted : )
Hehe......yup....me too F.
ha ha F. The Monks was our bible when we got Daisy...some things seemed silly but they all worked, Daisy is an awesome dog, and yes it was a big pia
PS Daisy has a vowel - LOL
I love the names Winston and Dakota - sounds like a perfect pair. I bet you can hardly wait for those new puppy kisses. Enjoy.
I definitely prefer Winston to the other two. And besides, I'd do ANYTHING to avoid the "is it ie or ei" conversation you'd have with yourself and others!!!
