Hello!!! i am about to go out today and get my Chloe a new collar or harness. It is now kind of urgent as lastnight i took her to my sons soccer game and she was just so excited about all the kids that she pulled so hard her collar buckle came undone! didnt even know that was a possibility.

She is now 4 months old and weighs approx 23 pounds, and what i really need is something that i can have more of a handle on her when she is in this obnoxious state of mind (oh gosh i sound like Cesear).

She is generally a great walker and only ever pulls when there are people she "Needs" to see! at which i am trying to figure out the best solution to fix that little problem aswell:)

Leaving soon for the pet store so i hope i get some ideas in time!

Thanks everyone!~

thank you! i will look into ordering one!

The Herm Sprenger easy release is the one I got for Bailey.  I have had great results using it.  Definately get this brand......even if you do not get the easy release option this website offers.  The shipping was fast and it is worth getting a good quality one!  Keep us up to date!  Chloe is adorable!!

I just ordered the Herm Sprenger with the side release buckle! hopefully it comes in soon :)

She hasnt told me how long it takes yet. But sadley chloe is going to have to stay home from my sons soccer game tonight, im going to have to wait until i get the prong collar before i take her again.

She just wants to jump on all the kids and its to hard to handle a folding chair, child, puppy, ball, backpack etc all in one while there are so many people walking about. Last time i took her the buckle came off because she pulled so hard with her flat collar (good thing i grabbed her in time)

Wish me luck!

I think you will find the prong collar will work for you.  But I will be anxious to hear how it goes for you and Chloe.

Just one quick question before i send the order email to leashesby design.

There is a Traditional Style and the new Ultra Plus Style. It says she can do either and the ultraplus is the newer model not quite sure of the difference and not sure which to choose?

I have the traditional and see no need for more constant impact etc. The traditional works fine for me. Order a couple of extra links so as your dog grows you can expand the collar as necessary.

I can say you likely won't have the control problem again if you use it correctly!

I went to our local, family owned (but not boutique style) pet store and tried them on Finn.  I think we ended up with small size and removed several links to get a snug fit.  It is just a standard, but good quality prong that won't stain or rust (maybe $15-20?), I don't need the quick release since I have always had the regular ones.  Here is a decent guide for fit:  http://leerburg.com/fit-prong.htm?set=1

Just be sure to fit it at the right spot on the neck and make it snug enough.  One it won't work well if you don't and two you will end up with it snagged in her fur if it twists and slides!

You will notice a big difference if you do your homework on how to use it for training and are consistent.  I think they are life changers for training happy, social dogs (and probably other kinds too!)

thank you! i have been you tubing and searching  for days to figure out the right way to use it, and after seeing the proper way to wear a prong, a lot of dogs have it on incorrectly (from what ive seen) way to low and loose, so its a good thing ive researched or i'd be one of those ! lol

If I put the prong on too loose, it tends to flip inside out with my dogs. So that has always been my gauge.

It should be tight enough so that it stays high on the neck, under the ears.

I usually have it lower (mid-neck) but my trainer is okay with that and it has been fine, no less effect.

does it fit on your dogs just below the jaw line? and does the hoop go and stay at the back centre of the neck?

i also dont know if it will be a problem with being too tight, a website basically said that if has the abilitly to slide farther down the neck it is too loose, but that seems pretty tight to have it way up below the jaw and have it stay there
