Is there any negative with a medium size Doodle

We are currently looking at pups, what is the downfall to a medium labradood?

Can anyone with a medium please provide a picture of them fully grown ?

Also, it's difficult to see the size of a dog in photos I think.   I remember when I was trying to describe the size I wanted I told the breeder I'd like a dog who could just rest his chin on the couch.  (I know that sound stupid...but that was the mental picture I had)   As it turned out Banjo's back is level with the cushion on the couch.   I don't know if this helps or not.

I second this. Ollie is my "mini" and like Banjo Ollie was only supposed to be around 30 lbs...ya...he is 10 months and at least 50lbs. I love him this size though. I don't even notice that he is big until someone else says something.

I agree Carol-more Banjo to love! We were told Chloe would be 35-40, she's 28lbs.

MEDIUM: 17" TO 20" The "Ideal" size for a medium female is 17 to 19 inches and for a male 19 to 20 inches.  Weight range tends to be 30 to 40 pounds.

 This is the breed standard for the ALD.  Seda is 18.5 inches from her shoulder to the floor.

We had a standard poodle for years and after he passed, we decided to get an Australian labradoode. My husband thought we should get a standard, but I talked him into a medium size.  Charlie weighs 38lbs. - for us the perfect size.  Easier to travel with - they take up less space in the bed (LOL) and car & eat less than a standard and waste cleanup less too!  Also, I feel the smaller size takes less time to groom, and just generally less time keep up with his coat on a daily basis.  I would suggest you find a quality breeder, visit them and see their dogs and sizes.  Good luck in finding the doodle of your dreams.

Thanks Ed.  He is not only a cutie, but he has the sweetest disposition in the world.  He was so easy to train and passed his Canine Good Citizen's test at 8 months old.  I can take him anywhere - and he is very well-behaved.  Our breeder does bio sensor testing on her puppies at 7 wks old and then she chooses from the list of applications the family that fits that puppy's temperament.  It worked for us and we are so happy with him.

[Nancy, Ned, Clancy, and Charlie]

Technically Ned is a medium.  He is 17" tall (1" over mini) and weighs about 28 pounds.  There is absolutely no drawback to his size.  He is a big dog with a big dog bladder in a smaller package.  Clancy, our rescue, is and odd guy - also technically medium.  He is 19" tall but weighs 64 pounds.  There is absolutely no drawback to his size either, except he doesn't fit into as small a space as Ned.  Ned is often mistaken for a smallish poodle but Clancy never is which is just a drawback of how they physically look.

I think whatever you have in mind goes out the window when you see what you have. I picked a pup from parents that were 60 and 65 lbs. She is 9mo old and weighs 33 pounds. We were expecting a much larger dog but she is the perfect size. Here is a picture of her standing up with my daughter. My daughter is quite petite, 5 feet tall. When I was looking for a puppy size, color and coat texture seemed so important. In the end the only thing that matters is her great personality. :)

Fudge weighs 46 pounds. I would consider her a medium size Doodle. Our Vern is 91 pounds.
