We switched Stella from Orijen puppy to TOTW prairie a month or so ago. She's 7 months old and weighs approx. 12 pounds and we feed her one cup a day. We've been doing some training with Z-fillet and as of late she is pooping 3 times a day. With Orijen and natural balance lamb treats she only pooped twice a day. Any thoughts as to why so much poo? Any help is appreciated :)

The more grain and fiber, the more poop. I suspect that explains it.

F is basically right, but it's carbohydrate, not grain per se, causing the problem, because TOTW is grain-free. It's much lower in protein and higher in carbs than Orijen, though. The carbohydrate content in any dog food is largely filler.

Why did you switch? Orijen is a much much better quality food, and especially now with all the recalls on Diamond products. Some dogs don't do well with Orijen, but it sounds like Stella was doing very well with it. :)

Thanks F and Karen. She was vomiting for a couple of days and refused to eat the orijen but once I suppose she felt well and we were transitioning to TOTW she ate both. We're almost out of the TOTW so I suppose I'll transition back to the Orijen.

If she was nauseated, that's probably why she refused to eat; I think she would probably have refused to eat anything at that point. I would go back to the Orijen and see what happens.

Did you ever figure out what might have made her nauseated?

Thanks Karen, will do :)
