Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have been thinking about this more and more lately - I think because our world is going to be rocked in a few months with the arrival of our little girl Charlotte.  I have been cherishing the quiet moments around the house, bonding with the dogs, date nights with DH, etc...

Lately the mornings have been so lovely.  They are my favorite time with Peri doodle.  After DH takes the dogs for their morning walk and they eat breakfast, Taquito hops on the living room couch for his morning nap, but Peri follows me while I get ready for work.

She starts by lying just outside of the bathroom while I shower.  Then when I move into the room to put my makeup on (in the guest room actually), she follows me and hops on the bed OR sits right under my feet while I get ready.  If for some reason she is not in the room when I begin (that is rare), I call her by saying "come on makeup partner" and she is there in a few seconds.  I usually then go back to the bathroom to finish my hair and she sits outside the door again and waits for me.

We then proceed to my bedroom to change and she lays on the rug and just watches me, sometimes she comes up and rubs her head on my leg.  After I finish and get ready to leave, she walks me to the garage door and puts her head by my side for some goodbye pets.  Every morning this occurs and it is our special time. She doesn't follow DH around, only me. And Taquito is off doing his own thing, so it's just the two of us.

Do any of you have special times like this with your doodle? I am sure you do!

That is sweet! Tank sounds like a sensitive guy!

I love the times when I'm working from home - I have a nice relaxing morning and a companion to help me with my work.

Luna and I snuggle after she eats breakfast while I sip my tea and read a book.  If the weather's nice, we sit out on the front porch instead and she watches the neighborhood kids get ready to get on the bus.  She gets lots of visits from kids and other pups if we're outside!

After her post-breakfast "down time" we go for a walk/fetch in the park, usually with her neighborhood buddies.  We then come home and Luna naps beside me while I read my e-mail and get started on the morning's work.
We go for another walk in the afternoon and wait for daddy to come home.  She supervises while I make dinner, hoping for a little piece of veggie to fall on the floor (sometimes there are somewhat less accidental veggie surprises!).

Just before bedtime is also one of my favorite times.  When we're getting ready for bed, Luna always has to be on the bed watching us.  We then have 5-10 minutes of snuggle time before she goes to her own bed to sleep.

I have so many special moments with Hurley...
I love when I finally sit on the couch after a long day and he jumps up right beside me..lays down (seems like on top of me) closes his eyes and falls asleep. It's like he can rest too...I am resting...he is resting....love this moment....

I don't get much one on one time with the doodles, but the few chances I have gotten I do enjoy a nice quiet stroll with them. Walking one can be much more peaceful than two :o) It's nice to hear other people's stories. Doodles are so precious!

Camus is my 24/7 shadow, he goes to work with me, follows me throughout the house, always alert to where I am.  A couple of my favorite times with him are 1) Break time at work (he goes to work with me) we will go for a midday walk and sometimes play in a grassy are where he loves to roll and then we sit a relax a bit before going back to work. 2) When I take a nap he squeezing in and snuggles up, laying his head on me and we both nap.  He is my gem.

PS:  Camus is known worldwide!  My boss is a physics professor who lectures worldwide and his introductory power point slide is that of the Lab members, which includes Camus (the sometimes absent minded honorary professor).

Camus fame should go far and wide. What a sweetie.

Thanks.

How nice to think of people all over enjoying Camus.

He does kick-start Brian's lectures.  Everyone wants to know about "that dog" in the photo. Then Brian explains, so folks learn about Camus, then the scientific lecture begins.

This is so neat Christine!  I didn't know that Camus went to work with you....perfect.

He was so afraid of people when I first got him and  being able to bring him to work provided a lot of "therapy".  He would run at the sight of any adult (but has always loved children).   Everyone in the lab helped and surprisingly a strong bond developed with one particular male Postdoc.  He has improved so much and I am sure it would have taken a lot longer if I had not been allowed to bring him.

Allyson, this is so sweet.  I don't have a lot of "one on one" time with my guys.  Guinness and I go to Flyball together most Saturdays, and Murph and I work with the trainer twice a week.  Other than that my boys are always together and the both follow me from room to room.
