I have never thought about this before and now in preparation of bringing the new puppy home I have questions. Do you guys sanitize your dog's toys? I have washed some of Monty's stuffed toys before, but never really paid too much attention. Most of his toys are rubber squeaky toys. How should I sanitize those for the new puppy?
Also, there is only one area where Monty goes potty on the side of our house. It's all rocks. How would I sanitize that area to make sure it's safe for the puppy? We just spray the area with water from time to time, but is there a better way? Monty was diagnosed with Giardia today and is on medication. Even though we still have three weeks before the puppy comes home, how would I treat the area to get rid of harmful bacteria in the future?

Thank you, everyone, for your advice. Monty is behaving completely fine, he just has mucus-y stool. I do wipe his bottom and also gave him a bath on Sunday. He is on medication as of last night, so I believe he will be better soon. I will bleach his poop area, thankfully he learned to do his business only on one spot in the backyard, so I don't have to treat the whole backyard. Thanks again!
I wash Riley's toys quite regularly but it's for me rather than him! I just put them in the washing machine or hand wash and then out on the line to dry!
So sorry Monty is sick!
You've gotten great advice. Thinking of you while you deal with this bug, too.
I wash Chester's stuffies in the Washing machine too. I just had to comment that Chester gets really annoyed with me when I do this. He will steal them back out of the Laundry Hamper and Has to dirty them up again really quickly. I never thought about washing his other stuff- Except the Kongs.
Hope Monty is doing OK. Exciting to have a new Puppy on the way.
