Can someone please in very simple (because that is all I can process right now) terms tell me how you organize/import your photos if you use a Mac and Photoshop? How do I easily get my photos into PS from iphoto? Do you put your pics straight from your camera into PS or do you import them into iphoto or do you import them somewhere else? I have been putting all of my pics into iphot straight from my camera....now I am finding it very difficult (okay, I don't know how) to get them from iphoto to PS if I want to edit one. I am not sure I am even making sense I am so frustrated..... I guess what I want to know is:
1. How do I get a pic out of iphoto and into PS
2. When you download your pics straight out of your camera where do you put them and how do you organize them?
THANK YOU....for any help..and for not laughing at me as I am about to have a breakdown and throw my imac out the window.

Lightroom is a direct competitor to Aperture. If you like Aperture and want some more software you could get something that complements Aperture or adds functionality. I have Photoshop Elements so if layers are needed will first edit photo in Aperture then work on it in PSE. Also have Nik Software's Complete Collection plugin for Aperture.
You want to resize or do you just want to print in different aspect ratio? You can crop to any size you want then export. Example shoot with Olympus so photo is 4/3's but want to print a 5x7 print. You crop using 5x7 ratio. Mike
Hi Mike, Thanks for the info. I want to resize to upload to a class I am taking on line. It is supposed to be 500k or smaller. Dimensions 1600 X 1200 or less. At this point I will be on vacation for a couple of weeks so I won't be doing anything right now. I don't have to upload for the class but thought it would be helpful.
I am also kind of technically challenged and have to get in the right mindset.
Jane, are you clicking on the file in your iPhoto Library, or do you have them in a different folder?
I keep them all in my IPhoto Library...I'm clicking on that photo.
Good to see you Larry.
Great, you are an inspiration : )
Hi Ronna! Sorry to be chiming in so late! I switched from iPhoto to Picasa awhile back. (Love Picasa.) The first thing I do is make a temporary folder on my desktop and upload all my new images to it so I can go thru them and delete the ones that aren't keepers.
Next, I do a SELECT ALL > RIGHT CLICK > OPEN WITH PHOTOSHOP. This opens a window where you can view all of your RAW images at one time. After deleting the ones I don't want (simply click the delete key on your keyboard) and adjusting some of the color, contrast, etc., I do a SELECT ALL > SAVE IMAGES. In the window that pops up I go to FILE NAMING > DOCUMENT NAME + "_[name of event or a date]" > SAVE (as a .PNG or .JPG file) in the same folder.
Finally, I move them out of the temporary folder into my two large backup folders: ALL MY PIX and ALL MY RAW PIX. I hope this helps!

The above path is to Apple's free video's on iPhoto. These may not answer all your questions but should help. Mike
