Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello everyone,  I'm new to Doodle kisses, but already I am loving having a site where people can share their love of doods.  I am still in the process of finding a reputable Labradoodle breeder, but have found asking anything about doodles on other sites just starts conversations with a lot of "breed" snobbery.

Anyway, I am in Australia and trying to find a breeder, but thanks to certain so called breeders, who shall remain nameless, making a very bad name for all Labradoodles here I am having trouble finding someone reputable.

I live in an isolated area, so visiting a breeder will require flying, which I will do once I have narrowed down my options.  I have looked into breeders who are a part of the Australian Labradoodle association and on the internet they all seem extremely responsible, genetic health testing, hip testing, 2 year health guarantees, DNA profiles etc.  However I would love to hear from REAL people about their experiences.  Has anyone adopted their Labradoodles from Australia?   I understand people may not have physically visited the breeders, but would like to know a little about your experiences.

Hope to hear some thoughts :)

My doodles were bred (in the USA) from doodles that were bought from Australia.  They are healthy, happy, wonderful dogs.  Both dogs are from an Australian Labradoodle Association breeder.  Good luck in finding your pup.

Welcome to DoodleKisses. You have come to the right place.  We have a group for just about everything including grooming. Lots of discussion and blogs about pros and cons of doodles. The site rules prevent people from posting breeder recommendations on the main page. But people can contact you by writing on your page or by private message if you become "friends". We have lots of information in general on breeders

My doodle was also bred in the USA, but has pedigree from Australia. I have been doing some research due to my uncertainty about the unsettled temperament of my doodle and found that Tegan Park and Rutland Manor have documentation of negative breeding practices. This is just my research, but perhaps this could caution you as you continue your research.

Hi Sarah -

I'm new to DK, too, just registered today!  We got our puppy Flynn from a breeder in Indiana, listed in the Australian Labradoodle Association of America webpage.  She was beyond wonderful and we could not be any happier with our puppy.  Our breeder was listed as a gold paw breeder, which means she made sure to do as much genetic & health testing with her dogs as possible, in addition to feeding great dog food, and so much more.  I'll tell you, before we got our puppy, we did sooo much research on Australian Labradoodles (we opted for a multi-gen, non-shedding puppy with a fleece coat).  He's a dream and all of the work we did has paid off big time.

I'm sorry I can't give you specific advice about getting a doodle from Australia specifically (our doodle does have bloodlines from Australia, though); however, I wanted to stress upon you how pleased we are with picking a breeder from that association's website.  I'm sure you will be as well.  Should you consider getting a puppy from the U.S., let me know and I'll pass you my breeder's information - although I'm sure you will be able to find great breeders closer to you.

Best of luck, and let me know how you make out.  It's all so exciting!

Who was your breeder?  I'm about to get our puppy from Indiana as well, it would be fantastic to hear great things about the breeder we chose!! :)

Hi Chelsea -

We went with ArborGate Labradoodles.  Who are you going with?  Good luck and have fun, it really is an amazing process.  This is my first puppy (I've had rescue dogs before) and I think this experience has been just amazing.  Nothing like raising a puppy!

I have sent you a friend request.

Didn't get it. I'll send you one.

Thank you everyone. We have found a breeder in Victoria who looks fantastic.  We are on their waiting list and puppies are due in August.  Very excited!!
