Do you realize? What to do? 10,000

As I started writing this there were 9,578 DK members. There may be more as I finish given my typing skills. Somehow with the Olympics starting this gave me some thoughts about what we are going to do to celebrate 10,000 members. I hope it doesn't happen when some folks are off cruising and boozing or snoozing. It needs to be fun and special and heaven forbid not like the fireworks,

or was it confetti,

that we had for 5,000 members, which messed up the site as I recall. Of course, Adina, OFL (Our Fearless Leader), would have to approve and she may already have a spectacle planned. But it seemed to me we need to start thinking now.

I finally got to this and OMD I'm practically a newbie myself!! I don't know why it FEELS like I have been here for SO long! LOL!!!  I'm #6360.

Oh yeah, definitely party time!   Since the world is so large, we should divide into regions and have giant doodle romps in all the various regions (I am guessing around September).  We can design a special teeshirt for "DoodleKisses, 10,000 members strong" and everyone can wear the teeshirts to the regional romps.  I will volunteer for the NorCal region.  When we did our doodle romp in San Jose, we did some voting on doodles with special attributes and they got prizes.  That might be fun to do also.  We could have so much fun!  Design contest for the shirts?  Could be a little profit maker also as everything will be preordered, paid for, and shipped just before the regional romps.

Okay, I'm on a roll (almost like Laurie!).  I'm even dreaming about it and had to get up to put down my thoughts.   Marcia Goodman and I used to have a ball making these virtual tours and everyone would join in with their part of the tour.  We did these on Doodle Connection on the Dogster website, but they were great.  One time, I even made Doodle Passports for the guys and gals because we were on a boat on the St. Lawrence and then down in Brazil for Mardi Gras.  Marcia has since passed away, but it was hours of entertainment for us making these virtual tours.

So, back to the 10,000 celebration of DoodleKisses.  How about a Gathering of the Doodle Clans?   (I have to admit that I am reading Diana Gabaldon and totally into it.)  We can have various locations around the world and make up teeshirts and advertise any way we would like.  Beyond that, we could have a  Virtual Tour of the 10,000 Doodlers and have someone (like Laurie) in charge of that.   Anybody with me out there?

Lynda, This is a neat idea, but there is no way I would be in charge....LOL.  I am already hosting a pontoon party for 10000 members and Doodles :)  Marcia Goodman sounds like she was my kind of gal!! I love how you are dreaming about this and really getting into the spirit of things!! The passport is adorable.

So, Laurie, is your party "real" or virtual?  I am guessing it is also virtual or maybe for the members in your area.  When I did these virtual parties, people were asking me how they could get tickets (particularly on the trip to Brazil for carnival).  It was really quite funny.  Let me see, we had the first party to the Superbowl, then the trip to Brazil, the sailing trip down the St. Lawrence, a camping trip, and a party at a members cabin in Oregon.  I think then that it kind of petered out.
