My DH bought me an iPad yesterday...I am pretty excited as I have never had one but I haven't even taken it out of the box yet.  Although I am starting to wonder if he is trying to send me over the edge as I am the most un-tech savvy person in the world and his gift of an iMac and PS CS5 is just about to send me to the looney bin...LOL.  Just wondering what some of the favorite apps are, what you love about your iPad if you have one, and any cool accessories I should get.  He did buy me the smart case for it but I don't like it and am going to return it and get a more stylish leather one.  He also got me a camera connection kit with a card reader which I think is very cool.

After my playdate at the pool with my favorite 3 year old today I am going to open the box and get started!    Hmmm...come to think of it...my favorite 3 year old is a computer genius..maybe I will ask her what she loves about her iPad..LOL.   Thanks for any cool advice on apps and "stuff".

I know about the keyboard screen. they all have them .I find them cumbersome. I use several fingers : )

Love my iPad. Bought it when I was playing the dulcimer and going to the dulcimer club and jams a lot more than I do now. Used the Goodreader app to load all my music on, and also to convert music to the PDF files. PDF files are usable in areas where you may not be able to connect to a server with a strong signall.
You can use them in the yard, however, I have noticed the screen is hard or next to impossible to read in the sunlight.
I use mine more than I use my desktop.
Enjoy
Wasn't sure how I would like an iPad but I totally love it. I leave it beside the couch much of the time and the convenience of just reaching over, flip open the case and off i go to check mail, surf the web and check my favorite sites. No waiting for it to start up and find a way to work the mouse in. There are so many great apps but 2 favorites are the google one because you can voice search and don't have to type anything in unless you just want to. I also love Flight Tracker. It is very accurate (I have had it update before the monitors at the airport) and easy to use. I'm in Atlanta with a son in college in Fort Worth that plus work travel and there is someone in the air a lot at our house. I paid for that particular app but it was well worth it. I just have the wi-fi version which is perfect for our needs and the reception outside is great Once you get in and woeth with it, you will wonder how you got along without it.

the backlighting makes the tablet so much better than the Kindle I had.

My brother is buying me one for my birthday in a few weeks time, so I will be watching this with interest ; )

wow, i need a brother like that!

Don't we all?

I love my iPad. I had the original and then ordered the iPad 3 the day it was available. I have 75,000 pictures that I just love to have with me. Three grandsons, 2 granddaughters and a slew of dog pictures. I love that. I do all my email, Facebook etc. on my iPad. All my books are on it too. My music plays through bluetooth on a Bose speaker. If I was lost on a desert island I would want my dog and my iPad with wifi. BTW any three year old can show yu how to work it. They seem to just know. Have fun, it can be addiction.

Okay..box is open...I am figuring it out.  Got my e-mail and all that stuff, got a weather radar app to alert me when Murph is going to have a storm, got words with friends....NOW...how do I get some of my photos that are on my computer onto my ipad?

CLAP CLAP CLAP!   Words with Friends-Find me. I need a new friend. Laurie did not renew our game :(  She is not my friend.  So here is my name-SPUDJP

Pictures-common sense tells me to drag them into itunes and from there load. I have no idea. I've never done this

K..will find you when I figure out how to get some pics on here.  Common sense?  I have none of that when it comes to electronics..but going to go try your suggestion.

Sorry-I did not mean the " common sense" phrase to... you.  You get what I mean.  Ronna, you can pick up a digital camera and take photos like there is a  god inside the lens.  Certainly,  you can get this iPod. What I was trying to say, " I have a lot of faith in you"

Still, I don't think you can handle the CS5 so send it here to me
