Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone,
I know I joined 2 months ago and have been pretty m.i.a since but I just about lurk this site every day for all the amazing advice that is on here. I have a bit more time on my hands now so hopefully can be more active in my postings and thought I would start by sharing my experience of Jasper's first trip to the groomers.
I took him in a couple weeks ago so he can get used to going, and just got some basic things done (nail clipping, face, paws, and sanitary regions trimmed, and a wash and brush). I almost cried when I went to pick him up, and it wasn't even a full body cut! I posted a couple pictures (hopefully it worked) just so you guys can see for yourself.
Thankfully the hair on his face has grown in a bit and it doesn't look as ridiculous anymore, but I don't think I will ever be going to this groomer again, lol.
On a happier note, Jasper is almost 5 months and is the most amazing dog. He is so full of energy and just entertaining to watch - I think he does the funniest things! He has yet to meet someone (human or dog) he doesn't want to be best friends with which makes walking him a real challenge for me, but we are getting better! :)

Are those pictures of a BAD haircut? He looks adorable. Perhaps not what you had in mind but he still looks like a doodle and a very cute one at that - no poodle face, no shave between the eyes, no poof ball on his head, and not shaved. He is really darling.
He IS adorable. I've just never seen this "hairline". It's cute, though. Monty gets shaved between eyes and I like it since I can see his eyes and he can see me. :-))) I guess you can get used to everything after a while. :-)
And Monty looks perfect with his eyes showing like they do.
I have already saved more than enough pictures of this site to bring in with me next time! :) And I love the fluffiness... I hugged him for longer than he could handle after because his fur was so soft and fluffy
He is cute as can be. I am taking Oliver in for his first "real" haircut this Friday. I have been stuggling with the idea of doing it myself. I will probably give the goomer some pictures of what I like and keep my fingers crossed!
I hope you find a better groomer, but you couldn't find a cuter doodle!
I have no idea why a groomer would clip above the eyes like that. That's so strange..and definitely not something I have ever seen before!
He looks cute regardless! Luckily it will grow back just fine, but it will be fun to laugh at down the road! Good luck finding a groomer! I groom dogs and I can tell you I think most grooming mistakes are made by mis-communication either the owner not understanding terminology, which is fine, a groomer should know better than to try to explain things using grooming-lingo. Or, in many shops a different person will check in the dog and then pass it to someone else. I always tell people to make sure you talk to the person who is going to actually have their hands on your dog! it can get crazy in a groom shop..but you should always talk directly to the person grooming your pup, bring notes and pictures if it helps you get your ideas across!
