Mini Goldendoodles Full Grown Weight and Photos!

Greetings Doodle Owners

 

I am starting my search for a mini golden doodle and have been so overwhelmed with all the information out there!

I am hoping to see some photos of full size Mini goldendoodles and their weight. We are really looking to stay under the 25 pound marker.. 20 would be ideal. Have you had any issues with shedding or allergies? That is important to us also

 

Also - we are in the NY area and would love to hear your experiences from your breeders -

Our lady Peri is an F1 mini - her mom was a golden and dad was a mini poodle.  Peri is one of the smallest in her litter at around 25 pounds full grown.  Her brothers are in mid-30s.  If you are really concerned about size, I would definitely go with another generation that breeds two smaller doods or dood/poodle together.  They will have a better idea about size.  Also, Peri sheds ever so lightly. The first generation doodles likely will shed.  The more poodle that gets mixed in, the better chance they have of not shedding.  If you have a major issue with allergies, I would consider another breed that we know doesn't shed (like a poodle!).  You just don't know what you will get with a golden/labradoodle since they are a mixed breed. 

Here is a photo of my Peri now. She is a great size, but I would personally be fine with a bigger mini/medium dood also.  They are wonderful dogs, just don't get something in your mind that he/she *has* to be less than 25 pounds, has to be non-shed, etc....

Considering your requirements for a dog under 25 lbs who does not shed and will be allergy-friendly, I would suggest that you consider a miniature poodle puppy. You are guaranteed of getting all of the qualities you want, without the uncertainty or variables that go along with purchasing a mixed-breed puppy.

Banjo is a mini goldendoodle.   His dad weighed in at 17lbs and mom was near 55.    Banjo now almost 3 weighs 52!!!!   You never really know what you're going to get.   I think a good breeder can guess-timate a full grown weight by the size of her puppies at 8 weeks....but I don't know that for sure.

BTW.....I love every 52 lbs of him!   : )

Karen....if you only knew the longggg discussions between DH and myself regarding what would be the best sized dog for us.....LOL.....in the end DH won!   (Actually we both won!)

I wanted to add, that as for shedding.....that's another unknown.    Breeder told us non-shedding.....Banjo sheds lightly....but he does shed.   Some don't....many do to varying degrees.

Thanks all!.. I appreciate the suggestions tremendously.... we really LOVE the look of the goldendoodles, and have our hearts set on 1 of these little furbabys.  We have been in touch with a few breeders  who have had great results with non shedding, and a few who do allergy testing from the new pups. We are exploring all options... Your pups are all super cute!

When you say that these breeders have had great results with non-shedding, do you have proof of that from other sources, or is that just the breeders telling you that about their own puppies?

Keep in mind that breeders make a living by selling dogs, like car salesmen make a living from selling cars. Not to bash breeders, but when you are making a decision that is going to impact your family's lives for the next 15+ years, you need to get confirmation from independent sources and not just the person who benefits from your purchase. The main reasons that doodles are given up to rescue groups are because they are not what the owners expected: too big is common, and the shedding/allergy issue is the most common.

When you cut a mini-doodle's hair, what you get looks very much like a mini-poodle with a longer tail.

I was able to speak with people who purchased their dogs from the breeder.  So I think that is a step in a positive direction

When I grew up we had mini poodles (allergies and asthma were issues). We kept Snow, Snow II and Teddy in puppy cuts, they never looked like poodles (not that there is anything wrong with that)....and most never thought they were. Now I look back and realize they looked like doodles :0)
