Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I don't know if anyone has ever suggested this before but I'm just wondering since people aren't allowed to advertise puppies or breeders on the main forum, why are members allowed to come on here to advertise their adult doodles? It's particularly irritating when it's a new member who only joined for this purpose and will be gone as soon as they find someone to give their dog to.

I think there should be a group for "owner rehomes" so people looking to dump their dogs can go there to make all their silly excuses and the rest of us don't have to see it and be saddened by it. And people looking to adopt adult doodles can go there and sift through the 'advertisements". All of these posts about rehoming supposedly perfect dogs makes DK a very sad place to come to sometimes. I came here to see pictures of cute doodles to liven up my crazy day at work, and instead I see another completely ridiculous rehoming post that leaves me sad and angry. I'm starting to feel like coming to DK is like gambling with my happiness, one day all is good, the next day, sadness and frustration.

I really don't know how other members, particularly those who have been here a long time, have managed to deal with this for so long, but I'm asking nicely could we please find a way to stop all this rehomeing nonsense on the main forum and let's get DK back to being the happy place it was when I first joined. pretty please? :)

you are right Ricki. Nobody actually answered her question. She asked for help keeping the doodle out of the shelter. I guess if she hadn't closed the discussion someone would have eventually mentioned some options. It's a valid point about putting our own issues aside.

Hey, maybe what we need is a group for venting!!

ROTFL!  Now THAT would be an interesting group!!!

We had that once, but the people we were venting about complained. :-)

LOL....

That would be one I avoided.

OMD...I hate to disagree a little with Ricki, but we did say if it was a done deal to find a reputable rescue agency and work with them. Dogs Needing Homes is right smack dab on the front page and links to the DRC are clearly noted. I also felt like she did not want to give up the dog and was trying to talk her parents out of it and that is why we gave other options.

OMD is right!! And they said it would never happen!
If you reread my comment above, you will see that I did say "few actually addressed her question" and I still believe that is correct. Giving her the names of the agencies and possibly posting their links may have been helpful. Usually someone does that in posts about rehoming in the first couple of comments. Not sure why it didn't happen this time.

All I know is that something happened within the first few comments that caused the poster to close the discussion and we lost an opportunity to help. And that makes me sad.

I think once Sherri gets the link together, we can just say here is a link for people who need help re-homing and then I hope the discussion gets closed. I was so shocked to see you agreed with F, I couldn't read your post clearly through the tears :) I am always hopeful if we give a few suggestions to help them keep their dog, it will happen.

Were those tear of joy? LOL!  I should have warned you in advance. Should have known it would be too much of a shock for you!

I'm hoping the new link will move things in a new and more constructive direction too. :)

And why wouldn't she agree with me?

I am just curious...have we ever talked someone out of re-homing their dog once they post?

I think people having puppy madness problems, we have.
