Any ideas on cleaning all those balls of snow on their feet and legs every time they go in and out? Fergie is having so much fun but she's worse than a kid - in and out, in and out. All full of snow. I have to say it is so adorable though.

Warm water is what works for me!!
Love the pics Lynn!
Several years back I had Alaskan Malamutes and I would sled them. An old sled dog trick (because they also get those iceballs between their toes and it can actually become very painfull for them), is to put vaseline between the toes before you go out. The ice then doesn't stick and start balling up. It really does work! I see someone else mentioned using PAM - I've not tried that, but I would think it is the same idea. That of course only helps on the feet, the legs will still pick up the ice/snow balls. I always found my dogs would pick them off with their teeth and eat the snowballs!
I love the idea of the vaseline I noticed that Willy has been getting some inside of his toes I wait a few minutes after he comes in to start cleaning him up and I do also rub his legs with a warm towel
Ilove the the pictures they are great I am going to try the warm water idea also for Willson Hopefully this weekend I can get some pictures of him in the snow with coming home at 4:30 it gets to be a little late
Don't they try to lick the PAM or Vaseline off their feet?
I remember they used to sniff at it at first but if you do it just as you are about to go out, they tend to be more excited about going out. That's why I would prefer vaseline - even if they do lick it won't hurt them. No sure what PAM would do.
So sorry for all of you. Out here in southern California, we just worry about sun burn!!!!
I am also wondering about the Vaseline won't they be sliding on the floor more and do you have to put it on everytime they go out I will have to get a BIG Jar LOL LOL
LOL - don't put it on the pads of their feet - stick it inbetween their toes and then get out the door. When outside it stays cold enough to not be slippery and it actually wears out by the time you get home.
We're wondering how it'll go- we don't keep the snow for the whole season, so it won't be too bad. Even with the rain, after a long walk, we let her sit, or send her to bed until she starts to dry.

Questions: Does the vaseline wear off by the time they come in ? I can imagine very slippery floors with that and ice melting!
And has anyone tried the "Ice on Ice' product? I looked it up, but there was no info on ingredients...
For the most part the vaseline wears off. In any case, if you have to wipe down a little, it is easier to wipe off remaining vaseline than trying to dry them. Even if it is raining out, Hudson knows he has to come in the house and sit and wait while I towel him off and get my shoes and jacket off. Its just part of good manners and training and it gives him a little extra time to dry.
