A "Heartdog" is that one dog that lives in your heart forever.  It can be any breed, any time in your life, but everyone knows who that dog is.  I know who many "heartdogs" are for many of my friends and acquaintances, but if you have had (or currently have) a "heartdog" you know it!  So, my question is:  Is your "heartdog" a doodle?  They are definitely special dogs and my first doodle was my heartdog.  No other dog will live up to him, even though they may try.  He was something special to be sure.  Here is a photo of Hondo tide pooling at Carmel Beach.  He died on 09-18-10.

Finnegan is my heart dog for sure.  I knew it from the moment his puppy picture arrived unexpectedly one day in my email.

And as he's grown he's become wonderfully expressive  and he's never far from my side.  He's not perfect, but he's brought a lot of joy and laughter into my life.

Oh Finnegan! What a face!!! Such a love-boy.

What a face!!

Cheryl ~ don't you love it when they cock there heads and if to say "I get you!".

Yes!  And he does.

I have to share that when we were going through CGC training and I had to leave the room for 2 minutes --this was Finney's "position!" looking at the closed door. I snuck around to look in the window :))  He didn't move a muscle, just kept his head cocked, even though the rest of the humans in the class were in "stitches!"

How cute! Love his name.

This is a tough question.  I have loved all of my dogs and very much love my boy Camus, doodle and non-doodle, however there is one that I lost way too soon and he has a very special place in my heart - Nietzsche.  I had him very a very short 4 months and still miss him very much.  However, I have Camus and am a DK member because of Nietzsche (and Karen) and he is a special doodle too.  Nietzsche was a doodle.  I still find it difficult to write or talk about him, but I had to let him go (euthanized) due to MegaE with complications. You can do a search here on DK or at DRC Rainbow Bridge to learn more about Nietzsche.

I read about your boy a long time ago and haven't forgotten him...

Me, too. He is memorable for the love you shared, Christine.

From these photos, it looks like you had a very special place in Nietzsche's heart too, Christine.  When I have some quiet time, I want to go back and read about your special boy.

I remember reading about Nietzsche and I am so sorry he died too soon. He was a beautiful dog.

Nietzsche and I bonded from the very first day. A co-worker said it best "He literally was in heaven when he was at your side. You really did bring sunshine into his life.......and he to yours."
