My 5 year old male doodles paws are so sensitive! When he walks/runs on pavement his pads on his feet bleed. We were at the dog park today and i saw blood so i looked at his paw and part of the pad was peeling off. What is going on?!

First thing I would do is put booties on him and then make an appointment with the vet.  There are many styles of booties, as well as booties for use during different times of the year.

I agree with the booties if you're walking him on pavement.  Murphy's paw pads were very tender when he was a puppy.  We tried to avoid walking him on pavement too much....he did much better on grass.  We have a couple of parks in town that are several acres with dirt trails and that's where we walked him.  Eventually his pads did "toughen up" and it's really not much of a problem at this point.

There are some discussion you can look for on how to treat the paws. But it sound like you should ask your vet about it. Some folks here do find their doodles paws don't do well running on pavement and I guess you'd need to avoid that.

How hot is it where you live?  You have to make sure that the pavement isn't too hot.  Particularly this summer where it has been so hot pretty much every where.  Rule of thumb, if you cannot walk barefoot your Doodle can't either!

This happened during all weather. It's like his pads are extra thin.

There is a wax called Musher's Secret that you can put on the pads for protection.  In the meantime you should get some advice from the vet to heal up the damage that has been done.  You certainly don't want them to get infected :(

i am definitely going to take him in, just wanted some advice. i bought him shoes too :)
