Don't be discouraged if you see a dog that you are interested in and they are not located in your area. MANY RESCUES HAVE TRANSPORTS AVAILABLE AND CAN HAVE THE DOG BROUGHT TO YOU FOR A SMALL FEE. All you have to do is inquire.

happy trails!!
Count me in. Just let me know and I'm there.
What do you think lynne?....May be easier for us to split members into states if it were it's own group....
It might be easier to keep it in one group. Check out how I did the East Coast Doodles Group. I put each state seperate rather than have everyone get all the mail from everyone. Maybe do that and people can match themselves to Routes. In the main page of the group maybe put the announcements of who needs to go where. Just thougts, let me know what you need.
I'm in Ohio - would also be willing to help!!
Bakersfield California...about 150 miles from Los Angeles. Ready to help!!!!
Hi- We're in Sherwood, Oregon and just tell us where to sign up and the car will have a full tank of gas! We're available from about Eugene on up into Washington.
Western NC, is on. Just let me know.
HI, everyone. I enjoy reading many topics that are listed on Doodlekisses.
I don't have a doodle yet, and have been looking for one through Petfinder, and some breeder's website.
If possible, I would rather save one than buy one, but the ones on Petfinder have been in distant locations.

I am looking at the chocolate doodle that is currently housed at Souixcity Animal Control, IA. He is being called B-27 for now. Do you think it is possible to creat a doodle train for the distance of 993 miles?
I am thinking that is too carzy long distance.....Or will it be too stressful - long ride - for the doodle?
The shelter said that they cannot offer the transportation since it is such a long distance....
Honestly, I think that would be too far for the dog to travel, especially a dog coming from a shelter who is already lost, frightened, and confused. Each person driving in the "train" would only be travelling for a relatively brief time, but the dog would have to endure the entire trip. Even at 60 mph, you are talking about 16 hours of driving time, with the dog being transferred from one stranger to another, not even allowing for potty breaks, eating, etc. It would be extremely stressful for the dog.
Being in the heart of puppy mill country in PA, I know for a fact that there are many, many doodles needing homes in your area. If you are only interested in a particular sex, color, coat type, etc., I have to tell you honestly that you really should find a breeder puppy to purchase. Adopting a rescue dog requires a lot more flexibility regarding the appearance of the dog, as well as many other things.
Thank you Karen for your honest reply. I thought it was a distance as well.
This is heartbreaking to see all these. I live in WI and was looking at those in WI. I have a friend interested. There is a nice looking GD in WI that just went up for adoption BUT, the adoption fee is $600. Is that not very high for a dog that you really don't know anything about and what kind of problems they have. I've never heard of such a high adoption fee. Has this changed? If this is the case, I understand a little better why they remain their.
