   I am almost positive that this has not been posted !!!!

    We seem to have a mouse or mole underneath our deck, we are pretty sure it is dead, even though we cannot smell anything,  It is really driving Wilson CRAZY! ! ! ! !  During the summer he would dig by the latice area and we stopped him ,  I put some of my potted plants there, but two weeks ago he was smelling like crazy by the planks on the bottom half of the deck,..well...  My loveable furry guy would lick the wood then start to bite or chew it  .

    I have put bitter apple spray on that helps a little bit.  But he needs adult supervision, which early in the morning when he goes out he does his "Thing" and goes right to the spot where the Problem is.

 He is Compulsive over this  I have tried distractions does not work.

  It would be hard too pull the planks out of the deck.  My DH  wants to buy Mouse posin, and place it about three feet under the deck where the latice is.  I really don't want any posion near the deck at all,  So Please Please any advice would be welcome !!!

     Now I ask you does he look like a trouble maker?  LOL LOL

   Wilson also has lost some of the weight his Vet wanted he is a fluffy 86 #'s now.

Yes, I like Sue's idea...call an exterminator. This would drive me nuts.

 I will call an exterminator and see what there safest way is to remove  the mouse

 About an hour ago Wilson and I were looking at the back yard and he was prancing  he saw the mouse!

  I saw it go by my flower pots that were covering up part of the underside of the deck,  he tried to get it>

  Well My DH grabbed Wilson we got him inside and my DH killed it but we are almost sure there is a nest, because he was still sniffing the deck part

Mice are almost impossible to completely eradicate since they can get in spaces the size of a dime. Getting rid of a nest under the deck, if that's the problem, makes sense. But if you have a basement, or maybe even if you don't, the mice start seeking shelter as the weather gets colder at night. I put traps in the basement every fall. The doodles are not allowed down there. Sadly it seems the most humane way since the mice are killed quickly. Poison aside from being dangerous to dogs, kills slowly and you never know where the mice will die.

  My DH has found some humane ways  one is  Instant Potatoes w/water  they eat it and stomach expands, or Plaster of Paris and I think is was some chocolate powder ,  I will double check on all of this 

   We just want to help Wilson stop his compulsivness with the deck gnawing  we ARE NOT GOING TO DO POISON< NO

 Way  I TOLD HIM ! ! ! !  F. Calla is right u don't no if they get killed and where they end up I would not want to be responsible if the mouse were to go into a neighbors yard and there pup would die because  of our actions

If the instant potatoes expand in a mouse stomach, they will expand in a dog's stomach also. Chocolate is poisonous to dogs.  Plaster of paris hardens into a cement-like mass - do you want this inside your dood?  These are just as poisonous as real poison.  You want mousetraps and a deterrent for the wood.  I don't have any idea what you can do under your deck - I have thrown mothballs in  my classroom crawlspace to deter skunks and mice but there are no dogs trying to get under there.  I would make a red pepper paste and 'paint' it on the deck where Wilson might chew.  I would also place mousetraps that might snap shut if he tries to dig to them.

Please don't use poison.  Two neighbors' dogs died suddenly for no apparent reason.  One was only 1 year old.  These neighbors think nothing of throwing rat poison up under the house.  I wonder if that is what killed their dogs.

 We are not going to use posion   we got some mouse traps so I hope that will work Paws crossed
