We have learned that all natural things may not be safe. This warning appeared on NBC last night.

See Karen's link below. I can't get mine to work. Gremlins again.

The vet said it was allergy where the hair follicles became inflamed, scabbed, peeled, inflamed again, etc.  Unless we do testing we won't know what caused it. I asked for a blood test for thyroid (because of our last dog, it is my personal concern). He said fall would make it all better but gave him a cortisone  shot and antibiotic.  I am sure he will be feeling better right away.

He will feel better right away; the steroid shots work very fast.

This is JD's worse time of year for allergies, because of the ragweed pollens. They'll be gone in another month. Here's a link to pollen.com where you can check the pollen levels in your area.

Thanks, Karen and F.    Poor anxious Gordie - this incessant itching can't be helping his anxiety.

Good. Hopefully Gordie will feel better shortly.

And once again the almighty dollar prevails. Sickening.

The sad part is we really still do not know what to stay away from entirely because no one will commit!

Wow, I guess I need to ask my groomer what she's using for shampoo.  Thanks for sharing, F....and thanks for the link, K.

Karen and F --Thanks for posting this!  Since I come from the marketing "world," one thing I can tell you is that (almost) every company lives in fear of bad press and most pay attention when customer letters or internet complaints start rolling in.  If a company's share price starts to drop, shareholder letters start piling up on top of the customer letters.  That's why what you do on DK to educate all of us is so important! It may not be the right reason to remove the ingredient, but it has the same result (eventually, grrrrrr) (OK I'm off my morning soapbox, more coffee needed...)

Hope everyone shares your link with other dog loving friends, their groomers, and their vets :)

I think that's the safest bet. I had been using some Kiehl's shampoo. It's A division of L'Oreal, and I got it as a gift. I love it but it's probably expensive. I just checked and it doesn't have limonene. When I bring Calla back in, and I think I will, I will bring my own shampoo and conditioner too. Last time she smelled like a w#$%@ house, not that I would know what that smells like : )

I use Douxo Calm Shampoo; it was recommended by JD's dermatologist. This site has customer reviews and it got 5 stars, so others are pleased with it, too, for what that's worth:

Thanks for the recommendation, Karen. Do you use a conditioner?

Thanks for the Post

Yay that is an ingredient in Jacks shampoo, it is the second to last ingredient.
