You do not need to worry. Just enjoy the night's sleep.
"let sleeping dogs lie". Don't worry there will be times when you are spending nights taking the pup out every hour due to an upset stomach or other sickness. Finn still on occasion has to be taken out in the middle of the night when he has an upset stomach. Just this week Finn ate my leather glove and threw up all over the house. That was the best part if you know what I mean.
I think you're fine. We brought George home last month at 9 1/2 weeks old. The breeder told us that he was already sleeping through the night, and frankly, I thought the lady was lying to me! :) Turns out she was right. After a couple of nights of adjusting to his new home, George went back to sleeping through the night. Our vet said this is normal by this age, that the puppy's urinary system slows down overnight so that they can hold it through the night. So, enjoy your sleep!
My motto is to respect a sleeping baby and a sleeping puppy. Vienne has, thankfully, slept through the night from day one. We take her out at 9pm or so and she sleeps until 5am. So far, very little whinning and then she goes right to sleep. Humans and animals produce an anti-directic hormone at night just for this reason. If we didn't, we would all be up all night going to the bathroom. She will be 9 weeks tomorrow.
Lolli was sleeping through the night (same time frame you mentioned!) at 7 weeks. :) SLEEP!!!
Oh yeah, enjoy it! Lachlan slept through the night from the very first night I brought him home at 9 weeks and I worried just like you. He actually sleeps so soundly that the first week I snapped awake at least once every night convinced he was dead, only to get a "pipe down, lady, I'm sleepin' here" look from him. He still sleeps like the dead and still gives me that look in the morning if he thinks I'm getting up too early.
Declan, on the other hand - I'm not convinced he actually sleeps, given that every time I look he's wide-eyed staring at me like "Is it time? What about now? How 'bout now?"
Oh enjoy! You're so lucky. Bailey is in the crate and usually wakes up around 4am, whining to go out. *sigh. I pull food/water from him several hours before bedtime too!
Well, I stand corrected. Last night we had our first 7.5 hour night!
