Rosco seemed fine once he got there according to Clark, but he freaked me out in the past hour. He was acting like he was either going to barf or scoot his butt, but it was neither. Although I couldn't see anything weird going on in his belly it was like there was a heavy weight somewhere low in his abdomen and he couldn't stand up. I immediately feared bloat. I kept calling his name, panicked. Then he got up but his legs weren't quite on board and he only managed to turn around and walk a few steps...and he ended up on laying down on his belly again...eyes made him look zoned and drooled a bit. Tail continued to wag though...super odd. By the time Clark emptied out the back of his Volvo, he got up and looked ready to go outside on his own, but Clark picked him up and rushed him to the vet. Apparently he was back to normal by then but they are observing him.
At first I thought bloat but his zoned look toward the end sounded seizure like...but neither fit what I'd imagine them to look like. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
Send some prayers his way! Hoping it was a weird nothing.
Okay just heard from the vet before I hit the button to post. She said that everything checked out fine and the only thing the blood work showed was that his electrolytes were off...as though he'd recently been barfing. He had eaten lunch in the past hour but I have no idea if he may have thrown up outside..he seemed fine when I'd called him in not long before the episode. So she wants to watch him more and give him some anti nausea meds to keep him from throwing up more and messing up his electrolytes further. Thanks for thinking of Rosco!

Oh, I hope it's nothing more than his electrolytes being out of whack.
That should not happen for no reason.
Glad Rosco is OK!
Oh my. Thinking of you all.
I am so sorry to hear about Rosco. I wouldn't think his electrolytes would be off unless he were vomiting repeatedly, certainly not from a one time thing, so I wonder if there is another cause. I hope the vet gets to the bottom of this and that it's minor. I will be thinking of you all. Rosco is one of those doodles that seems like he'll always be OK.
Keeping fingers and paws crossed that Rosco is just fine and there are no more weird events. I'm glad the vet didn't find anything serious. I was holding my breath as I started to read your post. Hugs to all!!
Poor Rosco and what a fright to get. Here's hoping this was a once off episode and nothing at all serious.
Prayers on their way Adina, I hope this is just one of those unexplained weird things.
Sending good thoughts you way. It sounds so strange. Hopefully nothing, but an explanation of some sorts would be good. Be well Rosco!
I'm wondering if he could have gotten a hold of something he shouldn't eat while you were on the cruise?
Sadly, JD's GI issues have proven to me that something can be brewing in the GI tract long before you see any signs of it. He walked around with a bone shard in his digestive tract for 2 or 3 weeks before he bacame nauseated enough to bring it up; no signs of any problems before that. And when the IBD was finally diagnosed less than a month after symptoms started, he was already severely deficient in B12. Not giving these examples to try to scare you, far from it, but just to show that we can't always know immediately when they have ingested something they shouldn't.
