Rosco seemed fine once he got there according to Clark, but he freaked me out in the past hour. He was acting like he was either going to barf or scoot his butt, but it was neither. Although I couldn't see anything weird going on in his belly it was like there was a heavy weight somewhere low in his abdomen and he couldn't stand up. I immediately feared bloat. I kept calling his name, panicked. Then he got up but his legs weren't quite on board and he only managed to turn around and walk a few steps...and he ended up on laying down on his belly again...eyes made him look zoned and drooled a bit. Tail continued to wag though...super odd. By the time Clark emptied out the back of his Volvo, he got up and looked ready to go outside on his own, but Clark picked him up and rushed him to the vet. Apparently he was back to normal by then but they are observing him.
At first I thought bloat but his zoned look toward the end sounded seizure like...but neither fit what I'd imagine them to look like. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
Send some prayers his way! Hoping it was a weird nothing.
Okay just heard from the vet before I hit the button to post. She said that everything checked out fine and the only thing the blood work showed was that his electrolytes were off...as though he'd recently been barfing. He had eaten lunch in the past hour but I have no idea if he may have thrown up outside..he seemed fine when I'd called him in not long before the episode. So she wants to watch him more and give him some anti nausea meds to keep him from throwing up more and messing up his electrolytes further. Thanks for thinking of Rosco!

Vet just called and she couldn't find anything wrong with him. He seems fine. His anti-nausea meds last for 24 hrs and they also had given him subcutaneous fluids. Clark will pick him up soon.
I forgot to mention that while Clark was getting his car ready to take Rosco to the vet, Natalie was concerned about Rosco's wet beard and she got busy dabbing it with toilet paper to help =) It was cute. She was happy to hear he's 'all better' and wanted to know if the vet had taken care of his beard.
I'm glad he seems fine and is coming home! Natalie is hilarious!
Yes, Natalie. The beard is all fixed!
Glad she did not dab the other end with the TP! Lucky Rosco to have such a good nurse. She must have learned that good care somewhere. Right!
Good to hear he is coming home.
Haha if ONLY they could fix his beard. His beard is only clean for about 24 hours after a bath.
If your vet tells you how to fix that wet beard let me know! Kona's is perpetually wet.
Hoping Rosco is perfectly fine from here on out.
Watch him carefullyl They can't tell you what hurts and sometimes tests just don't do it either. My thoughts are with you,
How scary to see him that way, hope he continues to be ok!
I really felt helpless and not sure what I would have done if Clark were not working from home at the time. He's way too big for me to carry anywhere.
We talked about this in another discussion lately. I have decided I would try to get the police in my small town to help me get Calla into the car if I had to get her to the vet or hospital.
My first fear today was that it was bloat and it felt like nothing was happening fast enough. I think I'd get a faster response from neighbors than the police...but who knows?
If you have neighbors who are home at the time that would probably be true. I keep promising to make a bloat kit Andy told us about ages ago.
