Could someone help me figure out what to expect with regard to coat type when the breeder says that the puppy will have a "flat" coat? I know that probably way elementary for you guys but I have no idea!! Thanks. Gayl

Anyone know what coat this f2b pup might have?  The breeder said he is the only one who has ever shed.  This is him at 7 weeks.

Will he ever get a beard?

I replied to your other discussion. This one is almost three years old.

Your puppy is darling, but he does not appear to have inherited the gene for "furnishings", so I would say that he probably won't have much of a beard or shaggy facial hair.

Hi there!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure my new doodles coat too.

He's 9 weeks old. I was hoping for a hair coat, but its getting more and more curly and feels very fleecy in lots of spots. That would be ok too, be we walk on trails and in the woods a lot and i'd like the lower maintenance of a hair coat. He doesn't shed at all right now, but that could change I guess.

Confused!

Thanks.

Sandie, One of my doodles was an adult rescue so I don't know what he was like as a puppy, but his coat looks quite a bit like your pup.  His coat is hair and he sheds big time.  He seldom mats, dirt falls off (eventually) but stuff still sticks in it (not as badly as my non-shedding, thick coated dood).  My other doodle - obviously different coat from your pup:

It does look a lot like that. Thanks for the pictures. Would you send a picture of your hairy dog so I can see what they look like ( all of him) grown up? Thanks!
