Jasper started daycare!

Today Jasper had his first day of daycare! I found a wonderful facility just 10 minutes away from where im staying, and since the next couple weeks are extremely busy for me in terms of school and exams, I decided to enroll Jasper. I was so nervous to leave Jasper there but the daycare immediately put my mind at ease - within a few hours, they sent over some pictures and an email assuring me that Jasper was having the time of his life. 

I have been looking into daycare for a while for a few reasons, the first being socialization. Not that Jasper isn't socialized (he has had plenty of exposure to people and dogs from when he was a puppy), but more socialization can never hurt. Also, with Jasper being so young, he has a very in-your-face kind of attitude when it comes to play, and I don't think he quite understands how to be gentle with smaller dogs, so hopefully daycare will help with that. A second reason is that since I am primarily the only person that looks after Jasper (on occasion my mom will watch him when I have to work late), he is very dependent and attached to me. I think he may have an extremely MILD form of separation anxiety - he whines when he cannot be near me (for example if we are both in the house but I am in my room and he is outside the door), and whines when I leave. Sometimes the whining stops after a couple seconds, sometimes after about 20 minutes. He has never been destructive though. Anyways, I am hoping the daycare will also help with that. And the last reason is to entertain and tire him out on days where I am not able to spend as much time as I would like with him.

Jasper sure looks like he is having a fabulous time!  It seems like a fun place for the dogs to play!  It is nice that you can relax and know he is so happy!

This looks like so much fun...our Doods really like Daycare too.  I'm glad you found a place where know they are being well cared for and getting lots of great socialization.

My Porter loves day care! He goes once a week and it wears him out for a whole day! He's still out of it now and he went yesterday. Since day care, his demeanor with other dogs is fantastic. When I drop him off he doesn't even look back at me to say goodbye anymore. *sniff*
