Hurricane Check In

Okay, East Coasters.... when you can please check in with us. I'm up in the middle of the night on the west coast, watching the news and wondering how all of you are doing!

Definitely near the shore but people have no power and may not be able to get online.

Lost power,phone, cell phone and internet for about 26-27 hrs.  Kind of lonely sitting in the dark.  I'm glad I had my Bo.  I was lucky though some here on Staten Island still have no power and those in those areas where the water surged lost a lot more. Homes were damaged and some were lost. Worst of all lives were lost.  Wishing the best for all those affected.

Glad you are OK. Horrible stories coming out of Staten Island like 2 little brothers swept away.

Terrible- Also a cop saved his family by moving them upstairs but then went back down for something. Rescuers found him drowned in the basement.  They also found a teenage girl dead in the rubble of a house.

Thank you so much for checking in with us, Charlotte. I am so grateful to hear that you and Bo are safe. I cannot imagine how lonely it was and how frightening.

I'm so sorry your area was hit so hard and for those who lost their lives and loved ones.  What a relief to have Bo as your companion through all this! Be safe Charlotte!

My area is pretty safe.  I'm on higher ground so the water surge was not an issue.  I was a little worried that it might cause the storm sewers to back-up into my basement but that did not happen.  I was more worried about a tree or large branch hitting the house or car.  I wasn't really frightened, I just felt a little isolated since I couldn't contact my family or friends till the power came back on.  I'm feeling pretty lucky compared to those folks who have lost so much.
