Thanks Cheryl. Finnley certainly was a wonderful gift. Some days I swear that I pet the fur right off her on a trip home. It calms me, and she certainly enjoys the attention.
I really think, like your Finnegan she just gets it !
I've had the same thing with some of the demenita patients where I take Gus and Lilly. This one lady loved Gus, but it was like she was meeting him for the first time everytime she saw him.
Ginny, I want to get involved in doing therapy dog work with college kids too. The Dean is interested and I am putting a proposal together with research etc. Would you mind PMing me and letting me know what kinds of things you do/your routine?
I've taken Finn to visit Alzheimer's patients. He always picks someone (usually a man) and lays his head on their lap and just listens. I may as well be invisible but I think it's fascinating the way he connects. Your college adventure sounds really interesting. Would love to know more of the details and how it goes.
LOL, I have noticed it as well that people would know Monty's name, but couldn't care less about my name.
I was with Monty in some store, waiting in the checkout line when I heard: "That's Monty. Hi Monty!" I turned around a saw a lady with her husband. I have no idea who she was, so I just smiled while she was petting Monty. I'm bad with faces and names. I'm thinking it was somebody from Monty's daycare, but I really have no clue.
A woman needing a binder? Seriously? -I know someone with a lot of binders full of woman. Oh... no. Wrong place. Just made me laugh out loud. I don't think I will ever look at binders the same way again.
Hattie and her mom. You now have no name :) You are, Hattie's Mom. Congratulations on having a dog with such charisma folks know her name. That is saying a lot
Last election when I went to the polls to vote as I walked up to the table to give my name one of the women sitting there said "Oh, here come Banjo's Mom"! She is a distant neighbor that I've run into while walking Banjo on a couple of occasions of the years.
Last winter while staying on the beach in Florida we met many nice people while walking the beach with Banjo and on two different occasions while walking around town people came up to us saying "Hi Banjo!"
It's hilarious
That's so lovely Hattie is a local celebrity. Something to enjoy and be proud of indeed.
No one would forget that adorable face!
Daisy has a customer following at my work, if for some reason we are not there, like Thursday, I get a bunch of emails the next day saying I am not allowed to have a day off unless Daisy is there anyway. One guy came in specifically to bring her special cookies he bought for her...he was very disappointed.
My boss told me three people askde for Daisy - ha ha, she is the office mascot.
All the kids in the neighbourhood call out to Gavin as we walk by. I had the same experience as Karen on Halloween with the kids calling out to Gavin at the door.
That is a really cute story. Good for Hattie to leave such a great impression on everyone! She is a CUTIE, how could she not:)
WTG Hattie! That's so cool! Lots of people recognize Finn in the river town where I work, but everybody knows everybody's dogs. There's Oscar, Shamus, Belle, another Finnegan, Arlo, and my favorite, Jersey Girl. One day I was waiting in the bank and the door opened and an 80# huge red golden doodle came bursting through the doors (literally) and passed me in a blur of flying curls. I thought "uh oh," but he was greeted with chorus of "Yay Tucker's here!" LOL
