Whats is everyone's favorite book(s)? I live in a small town so there aren't many good books at the school or local library.

Probably one of my favorite books is To Kill A Mockingbird. Gone with the Wind was a fav. too. Plus Moby Dick. I have to admit I read all the Harry Potter books too. I read a lot of different genres. I like Dean Koontz, James Patterson, William Faulkner, Wally Lamb, Dickens, Mark Twain. I could go on and on. lol Enjoy whatever books you read!!
I live in a very small town but the library is connected with several other libraries and you can order whatever you want from them. They check in the system for the book and then can have it sent to the library. Sometimes it takes a little while to get the book you want, but it is usually in one of the libraries in the area. The other thing I have done is to order books on my iPad or Android. I got them for when I was traveling and wanted to have some books with me to read in airplanes, airports, and wherever else I had some free time. They also are really cool for doing your e-mail and showing your favorite photos without carrying things with you. Everything is right there at your fingertips. At home, I prefer to have a hard copy of books because for some reason I seem to have a hard time with bookmarks on the e-readers. As far as favorite books are concerned, I have many. I am constantly reading and actually like series or books by the same author. My newest favorites are Diana Galbadon (time travelers and history) and Deborah Harkness (witches, vampires, etc.) Both have several books. Favorite dog book is "Merle's Door". Take a look at the favorite books section here at Book Loving Doodlers and you will get lots of ideas. What kind of reading do you like to do?
i like to read anything to do with science fiction or historical fiction such as the hunger games and the missing and shadow children series.
Oh yeah, Dean Koontz. I think I have read everything by him. Also love Paulo Coelho (metaphysical). Dan Brown is interesting, but they have made some of his stuff into movies. Not at all the same after seeing the movies. And the books from the series of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" are good reads, but they also made movies of them. David Balducci is another author I enjoy. Have fun looking for great books.
A new book just came out in the Odd Thomas series. It is called Odd Interlude. Supposed to be available in paperback on Jan. 2 but could not find it (even on line) so I ordered the e-book. Still haven't received even that.
I wasn't so sure about the author when I started reading the books, but I love her now. Witches and vampires?? But it is a weird love story and really interesting. I'm getting the second book this week. Love being able to take your books anywhere with you. My only problem with the Kindle is that you can't share your books. I love to pass them on to friends when I have finished a good book.
I know. I wish more books were shareable on the Kindle. Some are but not many. I may have to download the first book in her series.
Oh, yeah, Jackie. I am hooked. Just finished the second book of the trilogy and can't wait for the third one. Actually the writer's style is very similar to Diana Gabaldon's style. I read all of her books this year also. So I guess you could say it was a time travel year for me (at least in my reading).
I like to order used books from Amazon (be sure to use the doodlekisses link). I get paperbacks that usually cost 99 cents plus $3.99 for shipping. I also keep my eyes out for places to pick up and leave books - hair and nail salons, restaurants, etc. I also share my books with friends and family so that $4.00 goes a long way.
Haven't tried that yet. Seems strange that the shipping is three times more than the book. Can you have a bunch of books shipped together or is it $3.99 per book? Probably part of that is handling also.
I saw one of those leave one take one book boxes in a local park. It's a nice idea.
