Boarding issue solved

I am so happy to report that the boarding issue for Meg has been solved.  Meg will be staying in her own home and we have found a delightful young man that will Meg/house sit for us.  He is coming back for the second time today to handle her a bit and make sure she is comfortable with him.  I can not believe how much I have stressed over this issue, thought it was settled with a kennel.  I was whining about it to my friend who then mentioned it to her grandson.  He is on a break from college and needing extra cash.  I know this young man, his parents are the police chief in the town next to us and a court recorder.  He is well thought of at school and among his peers.  He came right over to meet Meg and is willing to do this for no more than the kennel was charging.  However he will earn more, it is so worth it to me to have her home and not freaked out.  I am so happy and just needed to share that where I knew it would be understood!  Thanks for all the previous ideas that were thrown out there.

So happy for you.  We stressed out that last time DH and I took a vacation.  Boarding the 3 dogs for a 5 days was nearly $500.  I found a college girl to stay with them for half the price.  The boys were less stressed being in their own home, and she was happy to have some time away from her parent's house.

This sounds perfect to me! I always prefer to have someone come in so the dog can stay in her own home if possible. Glad you were able to work it out!

Perfect solution! We always leave the doodles at home with a sitter rather than send them someplace unfamiliar. Relax and enjoy your time away.

This is so perfect.  Another advantage to this we found out one year when we had one of the Tech's from our Vet taking care of our dog, the Furnace went out (we lived in a new house so that never even occurred to us).  By the time she called us to tell us she already had someone over and had it fixed.  Had the dog been boarded, we would have had broken pipes when we returned.

I think this is a wonderful solution and if he does a great job, I would make it worth his while, so he comes again :) It is worth it to know our dogs are being well cared for in our home. Good luck!
