Lolli had an awesome first clicker lesson, but since has had water poo poo for the last two days. We used Zeke's Venison and Salmon treats. We've also used Blue Buffalo treats in the past.
Her poop was very watery yesterday but is now like soft serve ice cream (so sorry, hope you aren't eating breakfast!). She is eating, drinking and playing normally, so I am sure it was a far too many treats causing the issue.
I know boiled chicken is an option, but any suggestions on other packaged treats that would be easier on our time and her tummy?

Boiled chicken is great idea..also, they sell freeze dried chicken..which will be better if you are using your treats "on the go". Be careful with how many treats you give..b/c the calories can add up, and I would stick with one kind of treat..for now. How old is Lolli? Was her poop formed before-hand? What type of food are you feeding her?
Dogs can eat, drink, and behave perfectly normally and still have parasites or giardia. Too many treats should not cause watery soft-serve poop for two days. I would have a fecal done.
I agree with Jill, I would stick to plain protein treats until you figure out what is causing the watery poop. Pure Bites might be a good choice, they are 100% freeze-dried chicken, nothing else added, made in the U.S. and they are a nice small size, perfect for training treats. But I would still have the vet run a fecal.
My Weimaraner has a very sensitive stomach and doesn't do well with many treats, so when we are training (we clicker train also) we always just use her food as treats and give a little piece of freeze dried liver or something along those lines for the occasional surprise to keep her really interested. We actually do this for Soph too. Both of them are just as happy to get a piece of their food during training as they would be to get actual treats every time.
Brinkley has a very sensitive tummy as well... and we have had the bouts of pancreatitis to prove it. We've used freeze dried liver treats for his training. They crumble easily, allowing us to give his small portions rapidly without overwhelming his system. He's done great on them!
Good luck!
Our trainer suggested that we set aside a portion of our puppy's daily food allowance each day to use for training treats. This way, you don't overfeed the pup and puppy food should be easier on the tummy than treats. We have also had trouble with Jake, who is 7 months old now, having loose poop. Now he is completely happy to eat his regular puppy food throughout the day as a treat. He is a chow hound, though, and he will eat just about anything. It really doesn't even have to be food!! LOL
Thanks, everyone! I think I will try the freeze dried protein mixed in with her regular food.. She is perfectly happy using her kibble as treats. (I think she likes being hand fed.)
I appreciate all the suggestions!
Jennett,
Spud has the same stomach with the same issues. It is better now that he is older, but we had to go to making our own treats. Many here use a dehydrator. Fantastic recipes. We don't use one, but we do make huge batches of bite size training treats. We freeze them. I think it costs less than $10 and they last for months in the freezer. They are the only treats we have in the house and the only ones he ever tolerated.
You may want to join the DK Cookbook where many members have placed dog treat recipes. I swear by home cooking treats. Good luck.
I will do that! Do you have a favorite?
Yes,
We actually placed several recipes in the DK cookbook. My husband is the cook in our home. We modified the recipe to make the treats crunchy. Hang on, he may have it still on his page. BRB
This is one we made that is meat free ( we had a foster who was having food issues at the time) I ate too many of these. We no longer make them. They were just too good.
Spud's Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies and Training Treats
4 Cups Oatmeal
1 Cup Banana, Mashed
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
3/4 Cup Unsweetened Apple Sauce
1/2 Cup of Cranberries, diced
Spray Cookie Sheet with non-stick spray. Roll out to cover cookie sheet --about 1/4 inch thick
Bake 350 for 20 minutes. Cut squares to desired size
Created by Roger and tested by Spud's mom " YUM"
But I need to look up the liver cookies we keep in stock BRB again
I don't have it written down as we have perfected it and modified it to our needs. It really is PERFECT. Just ask my dog. LOL
Perhaps my husband can tell me in the morning. If not, feel free to remind me and I will get the recipe to you.
We make one of the liver treat recipes but to make them crisp, after they are fully cooked, we place them back in the oven on 200-250 to dry them out for a few hours and make them crunchy. I have a video around here somewhere because many were complaining a lot of the recipes were not crunchy.
In the meantime, join the DK Cookbook http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/dkcookbook
Here is a video of my dogs eating the treats. They CRunch!!! We cut them small enough to just give a small amount during training- quarter sizes.
Turn up the volume for the crunch :)
