Oliver has yellowing fur around his mouth. We try and wash it off, but it just wont come off. is this just a doodle trait?

Do you have a picture?
i do not have a picture, but i will describe it as best as I can. His coat is white, and around his mouth is a dark yellow color, like, Idaho Vandals yellow, or the Vikings color yellow.
Not the best example as my dog is not doing it much now and excuse the little burrs in his fur but you may want to look up ( and there are many discussions) about fungus in the beards. Normal, typical, and nothing to worry about. I ignore mine. Or trim off that beard some, but some put stuff in the water, etc
Most complaints around here is that the fur is brown/red. But I do see tan/yellow in my dog. Some of it is just Golden Retriever coloring
yes, a lot like that a bit more yellow but thanks!
Hailey, others will not agree but it is a dog. They get those beards wet, they play, get into stuff. Like kids, they just get all funky dirty.
Even the best groomed dogs ( not mine - ever ) get that around the beard. It is a dog thing. Some people walk around with towels and wipe off their faces. Ha. Or spit and wipe like you do a human kid. Just joking, of course. But in reality, pretty typical. I keep my under beard trimmed as much as I can
But search those discussions. I think most will come up as Red Beard.

thanks, Joanne! i bet that these will be really helpful. I will look at them as soon as i can.
Your welcome :)
When Willow gets that color, I use a tooth brush and brush downward on the hair around her mouth, with water and Baking Soda. Can't hurt the her and after a rinse and dry, she is white again.
thank you!!!
