Can someone please explain to me the significance of the PenHip test - some websites show their dogs percentage as 70% or 90%, etc. and others just say "clear."  Is 70% better or worse than 90% and are they both ok or?

If anyone reading this is interested in knowing which breeder we used to get Charlotte, please send me a private message and I'll happily share her name (along with a lot of praise!).  She breeds Australian labradoodles, and does not do ESN.

True, pure bred breeders can hold papers until there's proof of spay/neuter. But perhaps good doodle breeders could require a sizeable deposit to be refunded.

It's also much easier to monitor and enforce when you are only breeding one or two litters a year at most than when you are breeding 6 or 10 or 20.

Thank you for all the info.  This site is wonderful, especially for newbies like us.  I must admit I have been searching every website for Australian Labradoodles for the past couple weeks and doing much research and I am feeling almost overwhelmed.  I'm sure we will find our "perfect" puppy eventually but it's quite a process!

Yep it's more work. But why go through health testing and raising healthy puppies and then put those same puppies at long term risk? I think it's worth saying that I only found ALD breeders doing this, not golden doodle breeders.
