Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am new to the site and hoping I am posting in the right place. I see quite a few Maryland members. Would love to hear of good breeder recommendations in driving distance. I am only seeing the ones that come up on google and I am sure there are other good ones out there. Thanks for any help. I am in Southern Maryland and we are used to driving to get to things.

Hi Ann. Breeder Recommendations are not allowed here in the forum. People can leave a comment on your page, or they can send you a private message; you will have to accept a friend request from a person in order for them to send you a PM.

Please read this article What to Look for in a Breeder before considering any recommendations. It contains invaluable information about the minimal criteria you should use to evaluate a breeder. Everybody is thrilled with their new puppy and will recommend their "breeder", and I have seen people recommend known internet puppy mills. So you need to know how to evaluate any recommendations you might get.

Within the article, there are links to the Owner Recommended Breeders group and the various Puppies-for-Sale-Groups.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks Karen. So people have to request me as a friend. I say yes, then they can PM me recommendations? I did see one recommendation for MD on here. I appreciate your comments. I have been doing a lot of research. Just lost my second poodle. I do need to take time and clear the way for a new doodle, pup or older dog. Just doing the research and looking for best fit for both of us.

Yes, only "friends can send you a private message. But anyone can leave a comment on your page.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had poodles most of my life, too. It's very important if you are considering a doodle (or any mixed breed) that you do your research and take your time. There's a lot of false hype and misleading information out there about doodles, especially on breeder websites, regarding their coats, their size, their health, and often their temperaments.. When you get a poodle, you can be certain that the coat will not shed and the size will be within a very narrow range. This is not true of most doodles. Their coats and their size can be very unpredictable.  If you look at the listings of adoptable doodles in the lower center part of the main page here, and read the listing information, you can see that many great doodles are given up because of some of these things. There was just one listed in MD, and his story illustrates this. We've had a lot of good discussions here about these issues that you may find helpful. Many of us here also struggle with health issues in our dogs, too, so taking your time is a very good idea.

Welcome to DK and good luck on your search for your next best friend.
