My 8 month old goldendoodle has an extremely sensitive stomach. She has diarrhea several times a month! Part of the problem is that Daisy eats EVERYTHING! She will eat dirt, grass, sticks, her toys, bugs, any food she finds, etc. She has never torn up or eaten any of our stuff, but when we visit my sister's house, Daisy likes to steal my 4 year old nephew's toys and eat them. We have not been able to keep plush toys around the house because she eats them as soon as I give them to her. I do not know how to make her stop eating everything. When I catch her with something in her mouth (I know immediately that she has something because she runs from me) I will fish it out, but sometimes I do not catch her before it is too late. Also, she eats Orijen and the occasional cheese or bully sticks. Any advice on how to prevent her from eating everything? Will she grow out of it? Have any of you had a doodle with chronic diarrhea? Is her sensitive stomach something I should worry about?

I have taken her to the vet for the diarrhea before, and he just gives her Pepto Bismol. I bought a bottle of Pepto and I give them to her when she has diarrhea, but I hate to be completely dependent on the Pepto especially if something more serious is going on. Thanks for your help!

Hi,  I have a 9 month old male goldendoodle, and his stomach seems to be somewhat sensitive too.  If I introduce a new treat too quickly, he'll have diarrhea.  I've also noticed the more sticks he chews, the more diarrhea he gets.  I know poodles can have sensitive stomachs, so logic follows that doodles can too.  I've also done a lot of research on digestive enzymes for dogs.  It's weird - I take dig enzymes & probiotics for a sensitive stomach, so I know how the dog must feel.  I've got some ordered & waiting for delivery.  (I've also been giving my pup probiotics when he gets diarrhea, helps it clear up.  I have the acidophillus capsules, and I open one and sprinkle a bit on his food.  I use 1 capsule for 4-6 meals, so I'm not giving too much at one time).  Some questions to consider - are you sure you're feeding Daisy enough? Does she steal things to chew on for attention?  Friends with dogs (not just doodles) have complained of the same thing, and their dog outgrows it by the age of 2, some sooner.  Like a toddler, you'll just have to be vigilant until she learns.  Good luck (Daisy is a cutie!)
