Hello all!

My cute little girl, Charly is 12 1/2 weeks now. She really needs a trim and to have her nails clipped! We are new to Las Vegas and don't have any idea who to trust with our little one. So, if we could get a few referral for her of some of your trusted groomers that would help us and her.

We live in Las Vegas proper, so if you happen to know of a groomer with a Vegas address that would be great, if not that is ok too.

Thanks so much for any and all suggestions!

Hi Renee,

Be sure to take a couple pics of doodles to show the groomer. I've had two experiences with Toby where groomers have given him a "poodle cut" (gasp), and one time they even shaved him completely because of mats (eek!).

Now, I scissor-cut him myself (it's so easy to do!) and send him to our vet for a bath. He's a mini doodle so they only charge me about $20 for a bath/blow dry/nail trim and he comes out beautiful!

I am scared to death that she will come out with a poodle cut! I will for sure have to make sure to emphasize that she is not to look like a poodle when she is done.

I guess that If I wasn't so nervous I would give a trim on her a try myself. Maybe in time?

Yup.  Pictures and articulating exactly what you want is important. Check out the write up about grooming under the Grooming group.  A couple of groomers that have been suggested in the Vegas area are:

Soggy Dogs (look under Canine Cosmetologist on Facebook)

Foxy Hound (Eastern and Windmill) 702-838-4400

Sherri (Horizon Ridge & Gibson) 702-408-5000

Mobile Groomer - Debbie Rastatter - Deb's Mobile Tub 702-250-9778

There are probably others but those I remember as being mentioned.

Good luck!

Thank you for these suggestions. I called a place today and they kept referring to her as a poodle. I corrected them twice before I said goodbye. Needless to say we won't be going there!

Good answers all. Like Diane said. :-D you will probably just want to tell them to do a "puppy cut" trim and nails done. At that age I'm sure that's all she needs. She's beautiful..

I will suggest a puppy cut wherever we end up going!

Thanks so much, Oh and Charly thanks you too!! ;)

I used to have a toy poodle and had one place that called a puppy cut exactly what we refer to here as a puppy cut, basically the doodle look.  Then I went to a new groomer and asked for a puppy cut and she shaved the feet ... so bottom line, be very specific!

Hi Renee, your little girl is adorable! After my Lilly got several "poodle doos", I followed suggestions like Linda's. I found sketches with instructions for the groomer online.
The blonde doodle is not Lilly, but I brought this for the groomer to see a cute doodle doo.

Oops, I'll try again to post the sketches

Jeanne,

Thanks so much for your pictures. I can see where they could help me out a lot!
