Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Ever since I got my first Mac a few years ago, and started playing with iMovie, I listen to music differently than I used to. Now I'm always thinking about what kind of slide show or movie a song would go with. It's almost like I'm trying to pick songs for the soundtrack to my life.
Since I've been on DK, and learned a lot more about dog rescue (specifically doodles), I find myself applying this soundtrack theory to dogs. And now I'm convinced that there are a lot of songs out there about dog rescue. Sure, the artists probably think of them as "love songs," but I beg to differ.
There are 2 songs that I've been thinking about lately. One is "Make You Feel My Love" by Adele. It was written and performed by some old guy named Bob Dylan a few decades back, but who can stand to listen to that guy (If you love him, I'm just kidding). It just sounds so much to me like it could be about a rescued dog that had a tough start to life. One that's afraid or has other issues that you just can't figure out. You just wish that your love alone could fix whatever is wrong. That's more simple than what I really think, but you'll get it if you know the song and agree that all songs are about dogs. :) I can think of a couple of very specific doodles that this could be about.

The other one is "Home" by Phillip Phillips. That one sounds like it's from an adopter to a dog that s/he just rescued. Assuring the dog that no matter what happens from here on out, that dog has a forever home.

Do you guys do this? Any other good doodle or rescue songs out there?

"I've Got this Friend" is my love song to my doodle. It fits rescue perfectly.
I'm going to try this again. The song is "I've Got this Friend" by Civil Wars.

I've got this friend
I don't think you know him
He's not much for words
He's hidden his heart away
Oh I've got this friend
A loveless romantic
All that he really wants
Is someone to want him back
Ohh, if the right one came
If the right one came along
Ohh, If the right one came, along
I've got this friend
I don't think you know her
She sings a simple song
It sounds a lot like his
Oh I've got this friend
Holding onto her heart
Like it's a little secret
Like it's all she's got to give
Ohh, if the right one came
If the right one came along
Ohh, if the right one came, along
It'd be such a shame
(If they never meet)
She sounds lovely
(He sounds right out of a dream)
If only
(If only)
If only
Ohh
Ohh, if the right one came
If the right one came along
Ohh, (I've got this friend) if the right one came
If the right one came along
Ohh, (I've got this friend)
If the right one came, along
Back when I was fostering, I forget which dog, but this song came out. I used to play it over and over and it always made me cry when listening to it. However, it also kept my thoughts in line about what I was doing. Mostly the Chorus of the song.
Oh boy, it is too early to feel like crying. What a beautiful song.
Beautiful song but I always feel like crying when I listen to the words.
I love iMovie and have made movies for many of the special occasions in our lives - including one documenting Sedona's first six months with us. It was my husband's birthday present that year. Choosing and cutting the music is always a challenge - but so rewarding when it turns out "just right".
My daughter danced competitively as a kid. The studio owner was a best friend, so I helped out at the studio quite a bit. During those years, I couldn't listen to music without thinking "that would be a great song for a dance" or "that would be the perfect theme for this year's recital". Even now, I'll listen to the radio and be reminded of the dances from years past.
I haven't done an IMovie in ages, Deanna. It really is fun....I need to get back to it.
I just finished one of Kathy's and my experiences in Miami and on the Doodle Cruise. It turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself!
I do this all the time, Leslie. There are lots of songs that make me think of rescuing dogs. There's one special one that I always listen to when Murph and I are struggling with behavior problems and I start getting discouraged. The words always seem to put me right back "on track". I really like Jason Mraz...here it is.
Here's a shameless plug,Jessica singing To Make you feel My Love which I think would be perfect on a slide show : )
