Luna is quite loud when she plays. She makes funny growly noises, she even growls (a throaty, non-threatening growl) when greeting us. She also "ROOOOOOOOROOO"s (howls) when we come home almost always with a toy in her mouth.
I've been wondering lately if making funny noises is a poodle thing.. a Golden thing or just an individual personality trait?
We may have accidentally (ok, slightly on purpose) encouraged her to play noisily by making similar noises back to her when we are playing together. It's cute to come home to Luna and you say "roo" and she says "ROOOOO!". :)

I have had a couple of very "vocal" dogs. We have enjoyed it, too. I don't think your encouragement has made it worse. Some dogs are just talkers. (Neither of my vocal dogs were doodles, goldens or labs.) ;o)
I think all dogs make noises and I think they are individual to the dog, and not really breed related. Hounds do bay, and certain other breeds are known for certain kinds of noises, but I don't think there's any particular type of sound that all poodles make, or all Goldens, etc.
Every dog I've had has been a purebred poodle or a poodle mix, and none of them made the same kinds of noises. JD is very quiet when he plays and doesn't really make any noise. My last poodle make a funny growly sound kind of like Donald Duck when she ran around playing. I really think they are all different and it depends on the individual.
Chance likes to growl when he plays. It is not a scary growl but a low throaty sound nonetheless. My last dog was a standard poodle, and she didn't make the same play sounds.
Finnley makes all kinds of groany and growly sounds. She does it the most when she is laying on her back, playing with something in her mouth, with all 4 legs in the air. I love it ! :)
Fudge makes a very funny Chewbacca sound when she plays with Vern. Vern is more of a "woo woo woo" dog! LOL
Jake does the Chewbacca sound too sometimes especially when he first wakes up and does these big yawns. Both Baxter and especially Jake make ferocious sounding growls (I think) when they start wrestling with each other.
My brother's golden doodle" Holly" makes those funny Chewbacca noises Laurie is talking about. Bo doesn't do that when playing or when I come home. He has a pretty loud bark but when he is sleeping he sounds like a puppy with his little whines, low growls, and yips:-)
Murph is very vocal when he plays...me makes lots of really weird noises...Guinness is as quiet as a little mouse.
Haley isn't very vocal when he plays which is mostly fetch. However, in the morning when DH comes down stairs Haley started grabbing a ball or rubber bone and making a "Ah-rooooo" noise with it in his mouth. We encouraged it by treating him and saying "good morning". Now he sometimes says "Ah-rooooo" without anything in his mouth. This morning he didn't say anything so we said "good morning" to him and he replied with "Ah-rooooo"!
My goldendoodle Sasha is extremely vocal when playing, if you did not know her you would think she is attacking her big baby brother Oliver when they play. Now my Oliver (labradoodle) you never hear a peep from him. He never barks unless he wants my attention to go out. When he and Sasha are going crazy playing all you hear is Sasha with all her gurnting, growliing, moaning its so funny.
