IMG_0007.jpgPossibly adopting a second Goldendoodle. I currently have Ellie, she just turned two. The Goldendoodle we are possibly adopting is an 11 month old male neutered. Would Love to hear the Pro's and Con's from those of you that added a Second Doodle to your Family!!

This is sooooo cute Sandy and best advice ever!
Don't you mean eight feet Sandy? LOL
I have two dogs and never regret my decision to add Peri to our family. My chihuahua hated her for a few weeks, but now, they cannot stand being apart from each other. Best friends.
Cons: Double the money (vet, heartworm, flea/tick meds, food, grooming, etc...); also it's harder and possibly more expensive when you leave town (worrying about two vs. 1 dogs - boarding). And if you don't have a yard to let them run and use bathroom, think about walking two dogs every time you go outside. Even with a yard, I walk two dogs with a stroller right now just to get exercise and it's hilarious!
The pros outweigh all of the cons, I am just giving you my two cents. Also, does Ellie really like other dogs? Have you had a friend's dog come stay with you and see how she reacts?
OMD...boarding 2 dogs is CRAZY! I have to go to a 6 day training class and it is cheaper to fly my mom from Chicago to Seattle to stay with the dogs than it would be to board the 2 of them while I'm gone.
Very impressed though that you can walk 2 dogs while pushing a stroller!
I used to work for a Company that would pay the boarding fee if they sent you on a trip and you didn't have a spouse that would be home! Great perk! I'm a little surprised your new Company won't. I thought they were pretty much the leader in "perks"!
wow. that is a really sweet perk. We have all kinds of other great perks here but unfortunately that isn't one of them. In all fairness it isn't something that they are making me go to. It is a once a year training that I want to attend. I need the CPE (continuing professional education) so paying for my mom's flight is actually cheaper than having to pay for the class on my own which is what would have happened at my old company.
I need a "LOVE" Button Sandy!!!! You described exactly what I was feeling with having Ellie for two years. She does everything with Me!!! Also LOVE that you had a female and adopted a male.....Exactly my situation!!! Thank You~
Yes Allyson, Ellie loves other dogs. Everyone on my husbands side of the family has dogs. When we get together she gets along with them ALL. I do have a yard and a large home. I also thought about the vet, grooming expenses. He is already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on first year of shots. I found that to be the biggest expense with Ellie, besides purchasing her of course.
those initial puppy shot might seem like a lot of money but have you considered what would happen if this new dog (or Ellie) have any medical issues in the future? We adopted Ollie a year and a half ago and it has been pretty costly. We have dealt with ear infections and now recently found out he has atopic dermatitis (allergies) so that is something that we will be paying for for the rest of his life. I don't regret a minute of it, but make sure that you realize that though they seem healthy now, that might not always be the case. You might want to consider pet insurance for any major injuries or illnesses.
Ditto on the Pet Insurance. When you have two the chances of an injury goes up as they are running and chasing a whole lot more.
oh yes, we have had an emergy room visit though ours was the result of a fight, which hopefully wouldn't happen in Heather's situation but you never know.
