I'm searching for a Mini Berendoodle can anyone point me in the right direction?  Thank you!

What leads you to wanting this particular mix?  Why Bernese and poodle?  Why small?

Tom, breeder recommendations are not allowed here in the public forum. But even if they were, I doubt anyone here could help you.

I am not sure what mix you are looking for, but if you mean a miniature Bernese Mountain Dog-Poodle cross, there are absolutely no reputable or responsible breeders who would ever dream of creating such a mix, for many good reasons. I doubt there are even many puppy mills producing this. Bernese Mtn Dogs average 100 lbs. (And have LOTS of health issues, BTW, even when they are from reputable breeders.) No sane human being would mix one with a small poodle.  

Please read "What to Look for in a Breeder" and follow these guidelines in assessing any breeder of any mix.

Tom do read the link Karen provided.  It is useful no matter what dog you're wanting to buy from a breeder.

I googled bernedoodle, but even from my memory I could only come up with 2-3 breeders I've ever heard from who breed bernedoodles, fewer that go for the 'mini'.  When the breeders are that few and they are for a dog that is a mix and for which there is no standard, it is unlikely the breeders hold to much 'standard' or do a whole lot of what you would expect a reputable breeder to do.  There is a Canadian breeder that breeds them and lists health testing.  But I don't know them from Adam so I can't personally recommend them.

The size differential between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a small poodle would be a recipe for trouble as Karen said. The only way to do it responsibly would be over many, many generations. Otherwise, in addition to any other issues you are asking for skeletal problems.

Do we have much documentation about skeletal problems in mixed breeds that bred naturally (not Artificial insemination)?  Just out of curiosity.  I can see how inseminating a great dane with chihuhua pups could pose problems, but if two generally different sized dogs with even bigger size differences in heritage bred naturally...would the resulting pups be highly likely to have problems or would the genetic differences kind of even out...?

You would be hard pressed to find much natural breeding occurring between a 12 lb. dog and a 100 lb. dog. Think about it, lol. If the female was the smaller dog, and she survived the mating, lol, she would most likely not be able to carry puppies that size to term, which is why with doodles, the larger dog is almost always the female. And if the male was the smaller dog, it's unlikely the breeding could be accomplished, which is why the doodle breeders do AI in most cases of the parents being of very disparate sizes.

I'm assuming they are NOT doing mini F1's though.  What if the parents were only 30 lbs different in size?  But let's forget 'natural', have you seen any documentation of AI bred dogs from parents of hugely disproportionate sizes? What skeletal conditions, develop exactly?

What about in humans.  250 lb football build tall guy marrying aa dainty little short gal...are their kids destined for problems?

Well, then, why come here asking for someone to point you in the right direstion when apparently you found what you want all by yourself. Apparently there are puppies right there available.

BTW, linking to a breeder's website here in the forum is a no-no.

I think he wants suggestions for where ELSE to look since that breeder is in Canada and he is not.  He also wants one that is less than $3000.  Reviewing breeders is against the rules, merely a link so we can see where he's learned his info I think is appropriate.

Like I posted I was searching for a doodle this website refers to doodles in the domain doodlekisses.com I didn't realize it was only for specific doodles. Karen you come across as a know it all snob so just for you I will close my account and take my questions elsewhere. I obviously had an question that stirred comments and alot of good ones.  Karen you would serve this site well by not commenting.  Thanks to all the other interesting and helpful comments.

Please don't mistake Karen's passion for anything other than what it is...passion.  As someone who has devoted a great deal of her life to rescue and proper treatment of dogs, I think she saw a number of red flags with the bernedoodle as a breed and the specific breeder in the link.  Spend some more time here and read what you can.  I think you will find a good deal of information and come to know many of our finer points including Karen's. 

My two cents - although the puppies look quite adorable, I too would be concerned about health and breeding practices and the price she is charging is outrageous!  I think this particular breeder is trying to cash in on the hype of a unique doodle and that to me does not spell a responsible breeder.
