Okay, we went to the Pet Expo in Long Beach CA over the weekend and were given the sales pitch and handouts for Nature's Select.  I don't see this on the list of foods and I was wondering "The Amazing Karen" what your thoughts were on it?  Anyone else ever tried it or looked into it?  It's the same price as TOTW (even looks the same) and my girls gobbled it down!  So far with TOTW I have to embelish it otherwise they walk away, spoiled dogs eat better than I do!  It claims to be made in the USA (they even have a plant in Anaheim CA) and better yet home delivered!  Sorry, I'm seriously label reading challenged so all I see is foreign writings like windings!  Here's their website:  http://naturalpetfooddelivery.com/dog-cat-food/  Thanks, Jolene

In this case, it's not about the ingredients, although I would have to know which formula your dogs liked to give you an opinion of the food itself. They have several formulas and there is a wide range nutritionally, with some formulas being better than others.

The problem for me with this food is that it looks like another Life's Abundance type multilevel marketing deal. You can't buy it in the store, and the information on sourcing is shrouded in secrecy, as is pretty much everything else about the company and the food. It may be made in the U.S., but where do the ingredients come from? They are basically selling distributorships. I guarantee you that they do not have a plant in Anaheim or anywhere else, they may have a contract with a plant in Anaheim to manufacture the food, but they are subbing out their manufacturing like most other companies. I also can't find any statements of AAFCO compliance or nutritional adequacy, or complete nutritional info on the site. The non-fish formulas that contain grains have a pretty poor Omega 3 content. Some of the others look okay in terms of ingredients, but nothing looks great to me, and there is too much secrecy for my comfort. Do you really want to feed something that you can only buy from the guy who makes commisssion every time you buy it, and that has to be ordered every time you need it? Where you can never run into a store to get it in an emergency?

I can't recommend this food. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it or that it is harmful for your dog, but I just can't find enough info here to be comofrtable with this. I know there are better foods out there that are also widely available and companies that aren't so secretive, so if your girls aren't liking the TOTW, there are lots of other choices on the recommended Brands list.

THANK YOU KAREN, you're knowledge and approach is amazing.  Not knowing what to look for your input clears up any questions I didn't know I had!  I'm still running through the various flavors of TOTW so we'll see if anything grabs their taste buds.  For dinner I don't mind mixin in something to help with the fish oil and PMO (?) but I'd like to feed them dry in the morning.  Puppy steps, I know I'm a finicky eater.  Thanks again.

Which Nature's Select formula did they love? That may give us a clue as to what their palates prefer, lol.

I picked up another bag of TOTW and they didn't have the chicken so I got the lamb and they are lapping it up like they haven't eaten in months!  Thanks for the suggestion.  Clearly they are not fans of the Salmon flavor.  Store owner tried selling me the Premium Edge Chicken but I don't see them listed on the food list?  Looking through the previous messages it sounds like it's not bad but should be a last resort if other options available;  too bad, there price was good and they were bigger bags!

One question, and I'm sorry I may have asked this in the past and just don't remember.  Does it matter if you feed them twice a day vs once a day or is it just a personal preference?  Growing up we always fed once at night and gave them a treat in the morning but when I picked up Sassparilla I was told twice a day after the first year?  Thanks again, Jolene

It's generally better for the dog's digestive system to get his day's worth of calories in two separate meals instead of one huge one.

Thank you. Ü

Good morning,  Chicken meal & Brown Rice with Lamb Meal was the sampler.  I haven't tried the TOTW with lamb that might work?  Thanks, never thought of that!

Myself and a friend of mine have both tried this and it did not agree with our dogs.

Good to know, I will definitely stick with what is suggested on the main food group.
